New pc for my 50 years old birthday
« on: March 05, 2019, 07:42:50 AM »

Hi guys, my 50th birthday is approaching and I was thinking of giving me a new pc, which supports the new games.

Looking in the web I found a couple of gaming pc configurator and I made a couple of configurations:

http://www.ankermann.com/configuratore-pc.htm?rc=8400715ea6e6a699f037ec0e9dff84a0

https://it.pcpartpicker.com/list/bsRngw

What do you think about these configurations? Can they be okay?

Thanks for your help!

Ciao!

Too much RAM, good graphics, very weak CPU (for gaming), who needs a DVD drive these days?

Whats wrong with DVD's? I got hundreds, which I can not read without a dvd drive. If you got a large collection you can even do without internet for a while.

16Gb RAM is indeed enough for gaming, if you do audio/video/300dpi image editing or rendering of large files, 32 can be useful.

Mike what do you suggest about CPU?
We're gamers so hands down it has to be Intel by all means.
I just grabbed me an i5-9600K, will build the new system next week.
Either you get a recommendation from me then, or a word of warning.

It would help to know the intended use for the PC, e.g., resolution, VR, specific games.

If you want to save money, 32 GB is absolutely too much RAM. There is no need to buy a separate CPU cooler if the CPU already includes one.

Additional case fans and sound cards are not necessary unless you know what you're doing. Hard drives are also rather questionable as SSDs are fairly inexpensive now.

Ryzen certainly isn't the fastest gaming processor, but it may not matter if you end up GPU-limited much of the time. Of course, this entirely depends on your objectives with this computer.

With a 1070/1070Ti, the Ryzen would definitely be the limiting factor.
The Ryzen's single thread performance is roughly the same as my 8 year old O/C'ed i5-2500K, and that's as much as you can get from AMD for things that are limited by single thread performance.
This is why I say that Ryzen for gaming is basically a no-go.
The GPU match for that Ryzen would be my Geforce 970 (I can say so safely, because that one is the perfect match for my i5-2500K), but the 1070Ti is 60-80% faster than that depending on what you play.

As for CPU coolers, the "boxed" ones are crap, sorry to say.
For gaming I recommend unlocked ("K" type) Intel CPUs, you can easily raise their multiplier and get some 10-20% extra performance without needing to overclock anything else on your board and without having to raise the supply voltage or do other dangerous things, only thing needed is a reasonable custom cooler.

Hi guys, thanks for your suggestions!

@Mitthrawnuruodo: I wish to install, over time, most of IL-2 great battles, P3D, DCS, in addition to the beloved BAT. Often I do rendering also with solidworks2018 but with my present pc is a nightmare... For the future I wish to get Oculus Rift also.....

@Storebror: I try to made a new config with AMD, then I will show you the new config.

Thanks mates! Ciao!

Hi guys, a couple of new config.

Intel: http://www.ankermann.com/configuratore-pc.htm?rc=672f5faec45801c4322742fb100777a1

Ryzen: http://www.ankermann.com/configuratore-pc.htm?rc=8400715ea6e6a699f037ec0e9dff84a0

It seems with intel cpu the performance in gaming and workstation/cad are a little bit less.

Ciao!
