Earhart's Lockheed Electra
« on: February 02, 2019, 02:52:54 AM »

Amelia Earhart's NR16020
July 2, 1937 the machine along with Earhart and navigator Fred Noonan vanished near Nukumanu in the Pacific Ocean. One of aviations greatest mysteries.

The windows of the model are not 100% historically in line with the actual machine but it's as close as we can get.
made with Max_thehitman's great template.
enjoy!

Super nice skin art SAS~vampire_pilot!  8) Very cool.
I have not done EarhartĀ“s airplane yet. Your looks great, thank you!

Here is a simple trick you can do (to your game) so as to create an exact replica of Amelia Earhart airplane version.
Open up your Photoshop program ... and then go inside your Electra L-10 airplane folders to open up the "summer" folder...
... __IL2_1946_412\IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\#SAS\Aircraft_Lockheed_Electra_v1_412\3do\plane\Electra10(Multi1)\summer

This will only take you 3 minutes to make.

Inside the summer folder, create a new folder named "-Full Windows Version". Make a copy of all the files you see inside the
summer folder and place them inside this new folder. This will be your reserve default skins, so later you can revert back your airplane to
having ALL the windows in view. No need for extra work later  ;)

Since you have now saved your original default skins into the "-Full Windows Version" (your game will not read this folder
because it has a "-" (minus sign) written on it, you can now go to work on your other skins in the summer folder.

Open up the file named "skin1o" (TGA-file/Targa-file) and in your LAYERS Pallet turn on the view to see the "Alpha channel" on that image.
You will notice some RED colored squares on it.  These are the areas which are made invisible on your airplane, for the
windows and the cockpit windows on your airplane model to be see-through glass ...
Like this...

Now the areas I circled in Green in my posted image you will erased.
So make only visible in your Layers-pallete - the Alpha-channel layer.

The white areas are the "visible" parts in your airplane, and the black areas will be made "invisible".
Color in white the areas in the windows I had circled in green. Keeping ONLY two rear windows as windows. No little round window
on the door, erase it too.

Like this...

Now save the "skin1o" image , written as "skin1o.tgb" as a Targa (TGA file) as it was before. Sixe 1024x1024.
Next reduce its size to 512x512 and save it again as a TGA-file but named "skin1o"
Next, reduce its size to 128x128 and save it again as a TGA-file but named "skin1p"
Next, reduce its size to 32x32 and save it again as a TGA-file but named "skin1q"

Now your airplane in-game will only have a few windows on it. The others will be gone.

To finish up things to look much better, go open your Skin-template for the L-10 Electra.
In your Skin-template, open up the layers for the Lines which have the WINDOWS on it.
Erase those lines, all of the ones you have made invisible before in the summer folder (Alpha-channel).
Save your Amelia Earhart skin and place it inside your SKINS folder.
When you go fly the airplane, choose the Amelia Earhart skin and use it.
You will now see a more sleeker looking airplane with less windows than before. The other windows and their "lines"
in the fuselage will not be seen either.

This will ONLY work for aircraft Lockheed Model 10-E Electra versions, which had less windows on it.
If you wish to fly in the L-10 Electra version with all the windows - You must use the original default-skins which you had saved inside
the "-Full Windows Version" folder.
All because the Alpha-channel is diferent from the other.
