FPS Stutter when aircraft takes damage or crashes
« on: February 02, 2019, 12:07:22 AM »

Hi Everyone, I have just successfully installed a clean version of IL2 1946 with BAT and all expansions but am experiencing an issue that significantly impedes on my game play.  Whenever I deal damage to an aircraft or that aircraft deals damage to myself, my FPS stutters significantly.  I have tweaked around with the config.ini but to no avail. Thank you in advance for any advice!!

Welcome to BAT and welcome to the SAS.
Showing the contents of your logfile would be great!

Read how to get the log here.

When you want to post only the relevant parts from the log
read here how to do this. (code option!)

When you want to post all lines of the logfile we suggest to use https://pastebin.com/
to paste your log and then paste the link here which you got from them.
Read and see here how to do this.

The more info you give, the better the chance for help. Is it any aircraft or just some? Is it any era module or just a specific one?
Also post your graphics hardware specs and your conf.ini
It could also be of interest.

I will check by the end of the day if this effects all era modules.  Right now I have only tried the WAW module & Yes, this effects any aircraft the take damage or crash.

Well shucks, I dont think ill be able to post the log file or config file till I have atleast five user posts, so at least for now, here are my computer specs.

Computer Specs:
Processor Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7300HQ CPU @ 2.50GHz
Video Card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Video Card #2 Intel(R) HD Graphics 630
RAM 8.0 GB
Operating System Microsoft Windows 10 (build 17134), 64-bit

Also my intuition would lead me to believe that the problem stems from particle effects emitted by an aircraft taking damage, as I only have the FPS stutter when smoke and flame starts, when an explosion happens, or when a piece of the aircraft falls off.

And I have determined that this issue effects all aircraft in all eras :(

Yeah that's an effects mod issue.
Code: [Select]
WARNING: TSmokeTrail::TSmokeTrail() Estimated number of particles 28 was clamped to (1 .. 2)Whatever mod that is, but this one tried to create a new smoke effect by completely exaggerating the game's limit on smoke particles per effect object.

No.
You would have to check which additional effects mod you have installed.
The number of particles per smoke trail object is limited to 2 by the game engine, i.e. each smoketrail object can have either 1 or 2 particles.
The effects mod you're using has 28.
That exceeds the game limits by factor 14.
The modder who made that apparently apparently was a bit overzealous and didn't care much for the results of what he did.

It's safe to say that this cannot be a general BAT problem as otherwise all of us would have the same issue.
So it has to be either an additional mod you have installed, or you didn't tell us the full truth about how to reproduce the issue.

Well I have ensured that all mods are turned of in JGSME and I am still having the FPS stutter issue when any aircraft take major damage or crashes. Still have no clue as to what could be causing this issue.
