Contrails FPS drop.
« on: January 09, 2019, 06:53:14 AM »

Is it possible to completely disable the contrails or make it less heavy? The problem lies in the fact that the appearance on the horizon of 4-6 planes with contrails there is a drop FPS to 5-10 and do anything with this FPS is not possible.

I just did a search and there seems to be a problem in BAT, here is a post of someone who built a small mission using only stock assets and he got 1 fps: https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,59689.0.html

My only negative experience regarding low fps was with the wflyer vehicle mods. I posted about it here years ago:

For the contrails I use the stock effect file, TD did a really good job optimizing the effects in official 4.12 patch.
So the first test I'd make is to extract the stock effects and put them in the mods folder and see if there's an improvement. If there's not the problem is not in the effect file. I'm not sure which eff file controls the contrails, my best guess is 3DO\Effects\Aircraft\CondensateTSPD.eff.
