Glad you guys like it so far. 8)

Here is a shot of its first in game test appearance:

Giving a idea of scale on the Irkutsk map:

The size issue I mentioned has been dealt with so it is as near to the rough measurements I had as It can be,
just need to build the remaining buildings that make up Dadivank church, five or six pieces I think in total to
complete the complex.

There are what appears to be some lower levels to the complex, not sure how to deal with that yet, making a base
of some sort with land detail to allow texturing as per the map it is used on, however, placing the whole thing might
be awkward.

So, should it be one complete church complex or maybe have each of the buildings within as separate objects
that would allow other variations to be constructed by the map/mission builder?

Anyway, time to think on that while I build the rest of it. :D

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

I think trhat separate buildings could be preferable, as the complex can easily be re-built in Il-2, and separate buildings might contribute to the variability.
But you are the author, your opinion rulez.
We are only patiently waiting for the release.

Hello Uzin, okay I will go with each building as a separate object. ;)

It allows more variety in that there might be churches similar to the one I am doing but without certain elements so you have more choice in the way the various buildings are utilized to construct something as close to what you require as possible.

I might be able to use the building shown to make the smaller one in your scene by reducing it in size and changing the dome, it would save making a complete new building as I think they are similar enough that a change of texture and the different components should suffice if you do not look too closely. :D

Anyway, it will still take some time, patience is still your best friend.

Take care.

Hi, Pete,
your idea of making more sizes of the churches is very nice.
Looking forward to the release, patience is really our best friend. ;)

I eventually opted to make the smaller version rather than try and reduce the original because there
are some differences so it was more straight forward just to build it. ;)

Here are the first two:

I have been experimenting with various ways of mapping the tower and dome, however, not
really sure what does the best job:

I opted to map each face on the buildings so far but it means a lot of messing to separate the parts:

It might have been a better option to divide things such as towers and domes into possibly four
parts rather than have each individual face, I will take a look at some other buildings and see
what has been done by others and hopefully find a way that works well.

Waiting for me you will become a very very very old man I think.  :D

Okay, I mapped it, maybe not the best job but I need to carry on:

There is no damage model yet but that can be done with textures for now pending my building the
requisite items.

Compared to these two buildings the remainder look relatively straightforward in their construction so
hopefully things might progress a little quicker now. ;)

Take care.

Well, on we go, building C is now done. ;)

In the Sketchup image this is smaller at one end but I attribute that to the fact it was set on
some kind of landscape background, I used the longest/widest dimensions:

Texture is getting a little crowded, hopefully I can squeeze the remaining parts in there or I
will have to give each building its own:

Here sitting in what is probably a typical scene if viewed in Armenia, as you can see placement
could be difficult for individual objects so I will also make the whole complex and possibly mount
it on some kind of land mesh that will I hope help blend it into a scene much better, failing that
the map builder will have to adjust the land themselves, that can be quite difficult for such a
small area:

And I thought the harder elements were out of the way until I started this one, trying to do the arches has been a
trial to say the least. :D

The architecture of these buildings is really something to behold. ;)

Fabulous models. Love them all.  Never seen these in the IL2-1946 world before.

At first glance (If I did not see the title "Armenian church style") , I would have said it was a Byzantine Era church,
or even Greek style. The design of the building could pass off as many other types. For example,  an old Roman Era temple which
was converted to the Christian faith. A Medieval type church.

Beautiful models Pete

Pete,
you are the magician, I believe we can expect more such nice objects.
