SPAD VII
« on: December 04, 2018, 03:48:25 AM »

Sorry mates, but recently I updated my version of BAT to 3.5 Musketeer and still I have problems of not being able to fly the SPAD VII, running it just like AI. In fact it is not even possible to load it in the game.

I confirm it, I get a CTD when trying to fly it.

looks like a cockpit related error.
However I can't find a stand-alone pack of the SPAD VII to investigate the contents.

SPAD XIII works for me.

Out of curiosity, I just tried to set up a SPAD VII mission in the QMB. The same thing is happening here; at the instant the mission should begin, the sim CTDs. The presumably relevant portion of the logfile for the incident strongly resembles vampire_pilot's:

Thanks for looking into this v_p. Not incidentally, the SPAD XIII works fine.

Thanks for the math considerations, I do not have much knowledge about the construction of FM and other types of programs for new aircraft but I ask, could not be the use of the same FM of SPAD VII in XIII one of the causes of this problem? I have no problem with the SPAD XIII and as I said SPAD VII works only in AI mode.

Cheers

It was a java classifie problem. Somehow the new addition messed up an existing file.
A fix can be downloaded here:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,59975.msg660781.html#msg660781

you simply have to replace a certain classfile.
Now both SPAD work for me.

Apparently the same issue exists in DBW 1916 with the Spad VII. Can someone post a link to the correct java classfile to fix the loading issue? I don't have hard drive space on my machine to install BAT, even though I would like to....

SPAD VII works fine in DBW-1916

your problem is that you installed DBW on 4.12 ;)

I have two seperate installs of DBW and DBW 1916, one on 4.12 one on 4.10. The Spad VII crashes to desktop exactly as described above in both installs, you actually get a half second glimpse in cockpit after it loads the instant it crashes. Log files in both look like the examples posted in this thread, apparently cockpit related issues. SPAD XIII works in both installs. Everything else seems fine in both installs.

If its possible I suppose I can download the relevant update for BAT and attempt to extract the needed java class file for the SPAD VII that way..

The SPAD VII works fine in my game. Same for the SPAD XIII. Nobody reported a problem. Did you add any extra mods to DBW-1916 (4.10)?

Solved it!  :)  For some reason there were two aircraft folder entries for the SPAD XIII in both installs in the DBW 1916 folder. I deleted the extra folder and the SPAD VII now loads and flies fine. I suspect it was loading the ghost entry first and as a result the SPAD VII didn't know where to find the files it shares with the SPAD XIII. Both SPAD models now work correctly. Thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
