Ok! Got it!Its far too long to post .I have copied it to MS Word, but can find no way to attach it to this post. Any suggestions?

post it inside [ code]   [ /code] (without the spaces)

Code: [Select]
Ok I've tried to post the entire install log within the bracketed [ code ] and [ code ] and
with the same message of too many characters. Figuring I had got your instructions wrong,I then tried to find out if [ code] ,
were in the install log- they weren't.So maybe define your instructions a bit?
Something far more interesting has occurred in the meantime however & it does point to something in my PC NOT CAP install. I got tired of trouble shooting the old non working install & decided to start anew so to speak.I did a fresh white bread install up to 4,12.2 using the saved "Super Patch" to do so.I tested it and all was good up to that point , then I installed the 29 part CApinstall using ,of course the extractor.I went immediately to the "Selector" in the Il2 folder ,hit "StartNow" & got the message shown below, and a no start jusy as i have been getting with my older install. I tried the alternative dll.s with no result. So even the simplest install won't work...
I know its not the CAP package at fault here, because up until the last upgrade i was having no problem. I am using exactly the same torrent packages that I used previously ( I saved them all...)Obviously I'm no computer whiz , but I have been playing this sim since day one & using SAS help & upgrades,Mods , etc. for a long time as well ,with excellent results, sooooo what the h.....ll is going on here...ghost in the machine or what?
BTW Thanks for your patience-I do want to resolve this...eventually

Holy cow dietz... don't tell anyone that you've got almost 10 years of IL-2 experience and more than 700 posts on your back.
They might think you've lost your mind.

Should I move this thread to the Newbie section to safe you from the inevitable?

What does BAT 3.4 Linebacker Install.log say?
What is your game location? Any possible access rights issue?
And form of game log file on startup?

Make a specific directory on your main drive, like C:\\games\
take your *complete* Il-2 main game folder and simply move (like: drag and drop) it there, outside the windows protected "programs" path.

This is exactly what the pop up text says as well.

glad we could be of help 8)

Your sense of humor cracks me up!

BTW; 700 posts might be conservative...and if I could solve this problem going to the 'Newbie " section wouldn't be too bad.It seems so simple to just re-install everything yet I do feel like a newbie in my inability to do so...

Will do as you suggest & try a complete new install in a 'games" folder...Let's see what will happen...

Dietz, pls Clam down, you need to cool off first, you can’t remember run as Administrators button,

Simple,

Click the Selector Is n your Right mouse button and Run as administrator, it will pop up, and click Ok, and the Selector will Appear,

If you have a Window 7, Right click on your mouse button Properties and Click Run as Administrators

If not I cannot Help you,

30% is good because at that point, you will have a log to show.

This time actually I was referring to the log.lst file of the game:

Read how to do this here:
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,13457.0.html

Important: what to post and how to post it (code option):
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php?topic=39780.0

Another hint: When you want to post logfiles, make use of the code option (see link above)! And if you have to post looooooooong logfiles (like the complete installer log), upload them to pastebin.com and post the link here.
You have to understand that logfiles are important for us to see what's going on.
As much as you might think your description would perfectly tell all about the issue, as little anyone else but you understands what you even want to say, let alone knows what happened inside the installer or the game.
That's what logs are for.
Show them if you want help.
