Addicted to Kingdom Come: deliverance
« on: April 15, 2018, 11:29:23 AM »

As said in the title: I got addicted to this game!  :)
https://www.kingdomcomerpg.com/

Play it now for 100 hours, only 1 CTD, and one mentionable bug.
The rest is pure joy. Its absolutely stunning beautiful,
its funny, its has it all: Sex (oh yes), crime, investigations:
in a monastery and the towns and villages, fights (I choose to
try to master the game as an archer as I am too dumb for
sword fighting  :P, this is OK until), diplomacy, etc etc.
No dragons, no fantasy, no BS. RL in the middle ages.
In Bohemia, on true locations, only 200 kms away from where I live.
And I can tell you I know a lot of places I have been wich looked and look
exactly as what I see in the game.

A few screenies by me (in HD, but I play it in 2560x1440 on high/very high with ~35 FPS,
thanks to Gsync, smooth and brilliant, simply beautiful):

Looks much better than the rendered wildlands of Shrek and Shrek II, but it's been a few years since then and the Shrek movies were done with the best CGI rendering engine of it's time.

I have been observing this game too. This is the first review I see... and I like what you say: 100 hrs and only one CTD. Pretty good for a new game. May have to purchase. Hope my puter can handle the graphics ;)

Yes, buts that me. Others seems not to be so lucky.
Don't know what is or what they did wrong (speaking of KCD for PC only!,
I know nothing about KCD on Consoles), but they complain a lot on KCD forum:
https://forum.kingdomcomerpg.com/
but the tenor is the same as I see it on Steam:
incomplete error reports but much more scolding, whining and bitching.
Maybe thy messed up with Mods (available on Nexus):
https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance
Or they aren't able to understand how to play the game.
Whatever, when I'm not sure how to do a quest correctly I google it.
There is a lot of good help available.

I can speak for my rig only: Gsync saves my ass in all the games.
I can even play games with sometimes 20-25 FPS only and have
no stutters. But with 30 FPS all is good. No tearing, no problems.
Disadvantage: Gysnc-Monitors sadly really are expensive.  :-X
My GTX980 alone wouldn't do it I'm pretty sure (speaking of 2560x1440
with very good settings and ie distant objects set to max, etc).
But the combination of the 980 and the Gsync HW/SW in the monitor
provides a lot of power.

I would say, buy it when its on sale in a few month,
then most of the glitches people are complaining about so much
should have been patched. I have no problems with this glitches,
they do not really spoil the fun for me I have with this game.  :)

Nice! Really like the details and lighting. Judging the village images it must be perhaps early evening? Thx for the information  :)

The lighting in this game is brilliant (at least to me).
And for all those who want to play with settings
apart from what the game has to offer,
there are mods available for the 'specialists'.
https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/categories/7/

See for instance this guys, AndyBundy, improvements screenies, they are really beautiful:
Here is my favorite:

https://www.nexusmods.com/kingdomcomedeliverance/mods/487?tab=images

Also the details are made very dedicated and carefully.
All in this open world is "handmade" I've read somewhere.
And to me it seems thats true and so the result is stunning.

You see, I am a fanboy here  :D,
so please don't take my reports too serious.  ;)

Don't forget that I can run the game on very high settings
and so maybe other people who aren't that lucky
will tell you different stories.

I did a little work on KCD, I added eye tracking.

The guys in Prague had a bad time of it just before launch when some journalists decided the game was racist as there are not any black characters in the game.

The simple fact of the matter is that in the historical period the game is set, there were very few black people around and the developers respected that.

I am strongly against positive discrimination. For me changing history because of political or social pressure is worse than splashing the N word all over the game.

It would be nice if you could cross post with the KCD website to give the guys a bit of positive feedback, they really had it hard in the last couple of months.

There were times where they forbid some fairy tales, they are too dangerous to tell the kids they said.
Gladly Bettelheim came up with: " ..The ... Importance of Fairy Tales".
