The Great South American War
« on: March 24, 2018, 11:42:45 AM »

Just for fun static campaign that is purely from my imagination.  Campaign is set in 1939.  Nazi Germany and Italy arm Paraguay and Argentina, to allow those countries to invade and hopefully annex part of Brazil.  The US sends Army fighters and Navy dive bombers to Brazil to help push the invaders back across the border.  Player aircraft is the P-36A.  Enemy aircraft include the He-112, Hs-123 and Hs-126.  Missions include fighter sweeps, bomber escort, and ground attack.

The mission pack can be found here:
http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads3&file=details&id=2533

Download file to location of your choice on your computer.  Unzip to this location:  IL2 1946/Missions/Single/US

Well... as far as I have seen, it is not a campaign, but a group of single missions to play in order.

Thank you very much for the campaign eyler, really appreciated. 8)

Same for me Gaston sad to say, would not play as a campaign. :(

Been a long time since I built a campaign so it took me some time to finally get it to work, there was no configuration setting file
so I borrowed one from elsewhere and added the missions to it, that did not work.

Renamed the missions so there were no gaps in their titles, that did not work.

Eventually renamed the folder to take out gaps in the folder title and finally it loaded.

Tried the first mission and ended up in my chute caught by debris from my victim or hit by his wing man I will never know, my wing came off though. :D

Noticed the Martin bombers were in Dutch markings, wtf, am I missing skins?

Anyway, it progressed to mission two so was working in BAT WAW when I left it, I can post a link if you want so it can be tested in your game.

Great to see the Chaco map used by a campaign maker. 8)

Take care.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

Well... to assemble these missions in a campaign, you will need to have a configuration setting file (campaign.ini file) and an opening file (info.properties) to present the campaign in the campaign menu.

Of course, I think there must be no gap in the campaign's folder name, but I am not sure for the missions names (they are GSAW 01.mis and GSAW 01.properties). Maybe do they need to be renamed GSAW01 without gap, do not know (long time I did not put my hands in a campaign, except in the old ones I did...).

But I should try !

As I said Gaston, already done.

I can put it in a zip if you want it.

Not necessary, Pete... I did it on my side...

-renamed all missions files (.mis and .properties) without gap,
-prepared a campaign.ini file with new missions names,
-prepared a info.properties file, usinf the existing text of the GSAW template, just added to select highest rank and turn no instant success off,

and it is working perfectly ! Loaded the campaign, launched the first mission, stopped it asking to continue, and campaign continued with second mission.

So, for my side, perfect ! Now, question still open : how to add a zip file in a post ? because I can add an image, but not a zip file...

I was going to say the same thing. Just had to change "The Great South American War" for "The_Great_South_American_War" in the name of the folder and missions, and create a campaign.ini file accordingly. By the way, adding the name of the requested module of BAT at the end of the info.properties file may be a useful hint in game too  ;) I am seriously thinking about proposing some BAT mission/campaign building tutorials, or maybe some mission or campaign templates as an example for the new mission builders (or those, like me, who frequently forget some part of the process :D ).

Okay glad you are good to go. 8)

Now, question still open : how to add a zip file in a post ? because I can add an image, but not a zip file...

I usually just copy my link from Mediafire and paste that into where I am writing my post. ;)
