installing aircraft?
« on: March 13, 2018, 04:52:16 PM »

Hello Everyone,

I would like to install aircraft mods from this site into my Il-2:1946. How is this done? I have done it with CFS2 hundreds of time. I love the mods and IL-2! Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you for the quick response. The only trouble I am having is finding the air.ini file? I am looking in the main IL-2 folder and its not there? I also cant find the weapons_ru. properties or plane_ru.properties files either?

Do I need to use the JSGME to activate the mod or should it be installed without it?

Once again thank you so much for any help or advice!

Depends on what you have
Stock location is   Il-2 sturmovik 1946\Files\com\maddox\il2\objects   HSFX uses it afaik
However with SAS modact its Il-2folder\#SAS\STD\com\maddox\il2\objects
I'm not sure about the last one and can't check it (I'm not at home), but it's something similar

Thank you Atoka220! I found it the air.ini file! Now the only problem I have is that my IL-2 crashes at 60% when loading? Everything is installed like it should be, well at least I thought it was.

Also, I am patched up to 4.12.2. So I wont be able to install aircraft that are 4.09, 4.10 etc...correct????

Once again thank you for your time and effort!

No! It's easy.

Go to your "Mods-" folder, MapMods, maps.

Put the new map in "maps-" folder, put the "_tex-" files in "_tex-" folder and copy the right words in the Mapmods/ maps/ "all.ini" text-file.

Good luck and best regards,

Gerhard  :)

I have a couple of questions.

Do I need Modact and JSGME to install mods or can I put in stock game?

I reinstalled IL-2 and there is no mods folder. Do I create one and what other folders go inside of it?

Without modact you can't install new mods
JSGME is almost useless in IL2
