##### Low fps on powerful (in my opinion) system

Good day all. I hope that all are in good spirits when reading this. First off, thanks to all the guys for BAT. it is amazing.

Now to the point. I have, in my opinion a fairly powerful system as follows.

Intel i5 - 3570K
8 Gig Ram
Rx 570 4 gig

However I am struggling with low fps on maps. just doesnt seem to run as smoothly as what CUP did.

I am using the conf.ini from here:

specifically conf.ini number 1. Copied and pasted into conf.ini

I have tried both the above mentioned and the detuned one but they give the same results.

However I still seem to be getting low fps. I have checked my log file and it is reading my GPU as the primary. I realise this may be a worn out question but I do not know what to do anymore and I truly love this game. I will post a log file if it is necessary but dont know if it will help.

Again to the team behind this effort you guys are fantastic. Just really want to play this game again.... Smoothly

I'm running a RX460  and an i5-3450 so the specs are not so far away from yours.
Here's my conf.ini and down below are the adjustments for the Radeon driver tool. For opening that tool simply right-click somewhere on the desktop and choose it from the menue.

You'll find in the [Render_OpenGL] section some lines starting with a ";" - this means that the game doesn't read them. In case you encounter trouble with flickering airfields, wipe out the two ";" and put them before the two other polygon offset lines.
In case your game stutters while there are explosions, change to [Render_OpenGL] effects=1.

With this settings my game (BAT/WAW) runs smooth with some 50+ fps and looks very good (no staircase antennas).

If you use nvidia, in driver settings: adjust with image> set quality      go to 3D settings and DESABLE anisotropic  filter (this make improve FPS)
and set anti-aliasing to 8X.

DESABLE anisotropic  filter (this make improve FPS)
Paulo, this is not the first time you tell others such thing, and it's not the first time I tell you that it's plain wrong.

Anisotropic filtering in 1946 has nearly no impact on FPS at all, but it has big impact on image quality.
Leave Anisotropic filtering on at any cost and set it to the highest value your card can take (usually 16x).

and set anti-aliasing to 8X.
That is the FPS hog.
Plus transparency AA (in 1946 that is).
Be careful with these.
An RX570 card will be much better off with 4x Anti Aliasing and 2x Supersampling Transparent AA, at the cost of just slightly lower image quality.

Only now I saw this post ... I do not think it's better, it was the tests I did on my computer that showed this and it's what I use, I have excellent FPS and good graphics quality.

I clearly noticed the FPS crash, that's obvious!
It is very easy for him to take this test and draw his own conclusions, but I would never pass on something negative to a member of our community.

I'd run the Black Death track both in the modded and the stock game with the same settings and compare avg fps values. If it's an AA or AF isssue, then you should get the similar results.

Whatever you think you have noticed, it wasn't the impact of anisotropic filtering for sure.
Remember your advice was not just to disable AF, but also to massively increase AA and what I've said - and what remains true - is that AA is the FPS hog, not AF.
If you want to make people believe that on "slower computers" your AF statement was true, take note that the AF impact depends on the game engine and the graphics card being used.
The last Flightsim game with crappy AF implementation I can remember was Lock On - the original one I mean - that was 2003.
Geforce 4 graphics cards back then suffered a performance hit of up to 20% with 8xAF enabled (16xAF was out of reach to Geforce 4 cards).
ATI cards didn't suffer such impact at all, even the good old Radeon 9000 Series.
Nvidia partly fixed it with the Geforce FX series and completely fixed it with the Geforce 6 (like 6600GT) - that was 2004.
IL-2 1946 and any other Combat Flight Simulation game have a perfectly fine AF implementation. The impact of enabling 16xAF on a Geforce 6 series GPU is less than 2%.

What you've told was and remains wrong.
Deal with it.

I confirmed just the opposite, the anti-aliasing filter had low impact, since the anysotroping causes greater drop of FPS.
My statements are based on tests and not theories and anyone wishing to know can just do a simply test.
