Hey everyone.

Just trying to get my head round all this...was flying DBW 1916 (big fan of WW1)...then stumbled across THIS!...looks amazing, though i'm clearly late to the party.
I'm a bit confused, as I started downloading CUP Dawn of flight...and now even that appears to be outdated?

ok..i'm not a bit confused...I'm Massively confused....PLEASE...could someone point me in the right direction?...just want WW1 stuff if poss...and then look into the rest later?

Stop all your CUP activities.

CUP is the predecessor of BAT and not supported anymore.

You want to install BAT. There is only the complet full install, you cannot install just a segment or era.
But BAT is really 4 era-specific mods in 1: WAW, TGA, JTW and - that interests you: DOF - Dawn of Flight, the WW1 era

But upon start of Il2 BAT you will have a selector and you will have to chose which era to start for this session of yours so when you select DOF there, the game will only start a specific era set that's only WW1

But again: You have to have a full BAT install in any case.

Thank you Sir..Yup, have deleted all previous...and am now downloading BAT (49 gig!..blimey...must be choca with content) very exciting....thanks for your help..I'll report back

be sure to download the 29 base pieces and then update through 3.0, 3.1, 3.2 and 3.3.
check functionality in between.

Yup, the torrent contains the 29 pieces by the look of it...so are those additional patches i need to get?

the 29-parter is like a version 1.0, the base BAT install. Then evolution happened

now we are at version 3.3.
As I said: Base + 3.0 + 3.1 + 3.2 + 3.3 and you are at the latest version.

Is BAT not as good then?

no, no, no! BAT is wonderful if you want it all.

For me, I'll fly WWII-fighters. I only install mods that I want (and that's a lot).

My huge #DBW modsfolder = 42 GB and my "JSGME" folder is huge too.

BAT is great. As mentionaed, it's big because of the other era's included.
DBW with 1916 is just as good for WW1, if that is all you are interested in.
I would stop being conflicted and just download and install both , bandwidth be damned
