Rumpler CIV by gio963tto.

The Company Rumpler after the production of Etrich Taube started a new series with CI twoseater of great success and reliability, to improve it produced the CIV that together with DFW CIV was the main recco/ ligth bomber of German Imperial aviation in the last two years of war.

Lovely. Thank you very much. I was always sorry that the Rumpler was in DBW 1916 but didn't make it to DOF; at last that problem has been sorted out.

Hello guys, glad you are happy with my new slots. 8)

I made three versions but to me only one has any distinctive changes namely propeller and air scoops on the nose, maybe the experts amongst you can tell me exactly what the others are. ;)

The real aircraft had a earlier type control stick in the cockpit but Gio did not model that so I just made all three use that one cockpit, again, if there are differences please point them out and I can make extra versions of the cockpit folder.

The FM is from one of the other aircraft and only has the weights changed to those of the Rumpler, for anyone who has the ability the class files and FM files are in the download so you can adapt to your liking if need be.

After I posted I noticed some of the gauges behave differently in my 4.12 with ModAct 5.30 than in the DBW install, not sure what the issue is but I seem to be having issues with some things in my 4.12 install so it might be broken. :(

Take care.

Wishing you all the very best, Pete. ;D

The downed aircraft is not destroyed when it falls to the ground.

Re: 3 versions of the C IV

I did a little digging and found out that....

If you take a C III and alter the tail surfaces & swap the Benz BzIV for a 260 hp Merc D IVa you've got our standard snub nose C IV
If you get Pfalz to build it you've got the gorgeous sleek a/c that's our early C IV which could also be called a Pfalz C I or Rumpler C IV (pfal)
If you take the Merc D IVa out and replace it with a 270hp high altitude ex zeppelin Maybach Mb IVa you've got a C IV  that will climb to 5500m
If you take that Rumpler C IV and strip it out you've got a Rumpler C IV Rubild Mb which will climb to 7300m  o_O

Problem is this machine is also called a Rumpler C VII  :))

A trainer version with a 180hp Argus A III and no weapons is a Rumpler C VIII
Floatplane with a 160hp  Merc D III engine is a Rumpler 6 B-2

From what I can see the only external difference between a D IVa and a Maybach Mb IVa (for IL2 purposes) is the Maybach has a stubby vertical exhaust whereas the D IVa typically has a Rhino exhaust

This is what I found......I may be wrong.... I've got a ghastly cold atm and can barely see the keyboard never mind the monitor........so I'm open to suggestion  ;)

Yours, in search of a stiff drink

Cheers

Alfie
