B.A.T. V3.2 ANGELS HIGH
« on: October 05, 2017, 10:47:57 PM »

**************************************************************

B.A.T. V3.2 EXPANSION PACK 'ANGELS HIGH'

DEAD EASY INSTALL EXE

DOWNLOAD THE THREE MAIN PARTS + THE EXE
PLACE EVERYTHING INTO A COMMON SEPARATE FOLDER
RUN THE INSTALLER.EXE

This dedicated B.A.T. Expansion 'ANGELS HIGH' comprises B.A.T. Expansion Fourteen.  Place all of the parts, and the EXE, into a common folder and run BAT ANGELS HIGH INSTALL.exe to setup Expansion Fourteen.

B.A.T. Expansions are clean standalones for install and backup.  You still need to have done the previous sets for the SFS Content of course...

01) Il2 + Megapatch to 412
02) B.A.T. Install
03) Checkpoint Charlie
04) Operation Sealion
05) Angels High

'ANGELS HIGH' also acts as a full B.A.T. backup.  Running the B.A.T. ANGELS HIGH INSTALL.exe at any time will clean and reset your B.A.T. install to Expansion Fourteen - Version 3.2.

'ANGELS' in combat aviation refers to 'False Returns' on a radar screen and was also used to denote an agreed baseline altitude for aircrews to combat enemy eavesdropping.  True altitudes were reported as 'Angels plus or minus' the baseline figure.

The main driver for this expansion is a full Jet Age upgrade and many other fixes and tidy-ups to date.

Checkpoint Charlie was a great achievement getting every previous expansion in one place.  Operation Sealion was a detailed themed expansion that also pushed the boundaries. However, these huge updates are complex and more recent on-going project updates are also necessary.

With regard to the Jet Age there are numerous new projects in development at SAS.  I advise waiting for those while we enjoy what we already have.  There is nothing currently released at SAS or elsewhere that is not adequately covered in B.A.T. or already underway.

When the modders are ready with even more wonderful Jet Age releases we shall be ready to integrate them fully into B.A.T.

PERFORMANCE BOOST AND CLASSFILE CLEANUP

Classfile Excessive Log Fixes by SAS~Storebror
This is a critical performance update that fixes many game engine and mod errors that would usually go un-noticed but have a cumulative effect on a project as large as B.A.T.  These fixes alter the B.A.T. SAS_EngineMOD version and remove a tiny number of stationary aircraft mods.  Before you add anything try out the new high performance B.A.T. Modules and watch out for Classfile Clutter!

Be aware of this effort when adding mods yourself.  The B.A.T. 3.2 setup is specially tweaked and cleaned.  The Installer will provide a fresh start.  Our advice is, enjoy the improvements, handle with care and don't over clutter...

Beautiful very early airplane.  This aircraft is super-light and does not work in Scramble missions for QMB.  Its fine working out of FMB but you will need to put the Chocks on before start and accelerate carefully to avoid tipping it over.

Anatra Anasal DS and Blackburn Mercury Monoplane - Molva
Two more astonishingly beautiful early models from our friends at Aviaskins.  Neither are armed at the moment.

The Italian Zeppelin - gio963tto
http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,30496.0.html

The Golden Age was the age of Zeppelins and giant airships.  With some suitable skins these models from WWI work very well for mission builders.  Thanks to Vampire_Pilot for a great suggestion and Mission_BUG for updating the static models to match.

Airships ceased to play an offensive role after WWI.  They were used for observation and as luxury passenger liners until the Hindenburg crash undermined confidence in them.  To reflect this I have removed the Defensive Gunners from these Airships.

Flying them is best left to the AI.  Use an airstart because these things are right on the edge of what is possible in Il2!  You can take the controls though and they are marvelous to behold as they soar majestically over the landscape.

F-111 Aardvark (Franken) ver. 1.1 Beta - Bison_M
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,44640.0.html
We might get the 'real thing' one day.  Meantime this is a Frankenplane most suitable for Mission resource AI as it helps to populate the FMB virtual skies.

Tu22 Blinder (Franken) in own Slot - Bison_M - Vampire_Pilot
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,55460.0.html
Again this is really for tracking and mission building in FMB.  This Frankenplane is most suitable for Mission resource AI as we build more scenarios and re-kindle Cold War fear.

Avia S-92 and CS-92 Skvorez
http://forum.aviaskins.com/showthread.php?t=4247
During the 1950's, according to Egyptian and British intelligence, the IAF secretly took delivery of eight crated Avia S.92 jets built in Czechoslovakia. The Czechs' Russian masters might have approved such a sale in the first half of 1950, and Israel may have felt an urgent need to answer the threat posed by the new Egyptian Meteors which arrived in October 1949.  However, the Me 262 was hopelessly antiquated in 1950 and the late Second World War technology was of very limited service life.

Avia S-92 and CS-92 Skvorez Engines and Blister - PA_Jeronimo
http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,25142.0.html
Not separately posted but available if you look through the various options.  This page is a wonderful resource!  Adding PA_Jeronimo's improvements makes the B.A.T. Avia look even better than the original!

F-84F Thunderstreak Weapons and Loadout Upgrades - DreamK
The B.A.T. Team also fixed the skin mapping in the cockpit view and added the JSGME Option to colour the Type-F Dorsal to match the Skin for a greatly improved look.  The F-84F also has a unique JSGME activated cockpit.

MB 326/xavante/impala gio963tto & 4S_Vega Slots-CWatson
http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,54320.12.html
Another lovely looking set of wonderful Trainers and COIN aircraft used all over the world.  The cockpit is a basic P80 Type, which we were able to improve by adding PA_Jeronimo's Mesh.

MB339PAN - New JSGME Option to add Instructor Pilot - SAS~Monty27
This a very old, and rare mod, which is still so pretty it deserves to survive within B.A.T. You may now fly it solo or accompanied.  The Smoke is also configured to exit the region of tailpipe, like a proper display aircraft.

Comprehensive Weapons, CCIP and Laser Designator Testing - Hangar-19 Team.

B.A.T. Mirage Series
Our own Mirage Series is currently undergoing a complete refit, with added animated surfaces and new 3D.  Prior to this release a small fix is included here which improves the pilot seating.

A6 Intruder Family - Ranwers and 4S_Vega
http://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,56666.0.html
Alongside the Mustang, one of the most evocative profiles in all aviation.  The Intruder is here!  Many of the best modders at SAS have worked to produce this masterpiece.  With 8 variants the A6-A/E Intruders, the Tankers and EA6B Prowler Elint aircraft are very well represented:

LASER GUIDED BOMBS
Implementation of this feature is described fully in practice mission RN/BATOPS_HARRIER_RN/Baker02.  You can practice the technique, in this mission, using the AV8B (MISC: 7 - Lock Laser).  The A10, F/A18, F16 and F4 all use the same system.

An LGB Mission should include an 'IP' at which to setup for the target run - Level Flight, reduce speed, Bomb-Train set to ONE, Sight Target, Release single bomb, Laser Lock Target.

The new A6 FLIR appears to function differently to all of the other jet  models.  This may be a more sopisticated setup but at this time there is a lack of documentation, practice missions or useful data on its practical function within the sim.  The B.A.T. Team will be working to resolve this, with full 'shakedown' tests on the aircraft and suitable missions to follow.  Meantime the A6 is not the best LGB Platform from the Player's point of view!

Lingering with the slow Intruder over a heavy SAM environment is a good way to get killed.  If you want to go LGB Bridge Busting in Vietnam it is better to use the F4.  The Phantom is faster and the FLIR LGBs work better.

WILD WEASEL SEAD
An excellent new feature, also now implemented for the F4 and other 2-Seat jets, is the BN Contact and Target Reporting, helping the pilot to evaluate threats and ground activity during the flight.  This is particularly good for Iron Hand/Wild Weasel Missions, where the A6-A, and sometimes the B Model, was used to locate SAM sites and destroy them with Shrike or Bullpup missiles.  When your BN calls out a contact and bearing you should try for a ground lock (Padlock Enemy Ground Key).  Suitably locked the missiles will guide straight to the target.  Get them before they get you.

LOFT BOMBING AND CCIP
Another arena in which the A6 really shines is the low level attack regime.  Toggling through 'Crew Positions' will present you first with a CCIP type sight and then the FLIR before returning to the cockpit view.  The CCIP displays crosshairs and a rising 'release point'.  Dive at the target with your crosshairs over the intended impact point and release as the CCIP bar rises to meet the crosshairs.

With the Bombardier Navigator (BN) sitting right beside you, its easy to find Yankee Station as you go 'feet wet' hundreds of miles away across the South China Sea.  The BN is tracking 'Surface Units' and provides bearing and distance.  In this way the Intruder, and the new F4 Phantom II Series, have true all weather capability in the sim.  Most especially with the new Jets it is no longer a sensible option to simply hit the 'Autopilot' Key and become an AI aircraft until you get where you want to go.  You need to trim these aircraft and watch the power output and airspeed.  Use 'Level Stabiliser', when pointed in the right direction, for a more realistic Autopilot simulation.

The BAT F4, F5, A6 and A10 all use a similar system for 'dumb bombs'.  For the the best airspeed and dive/loft parameters you should practice with individual aircraft at the target range.

IN-FLIGHT RE-FUELING

The A-6E and KA-6D Tanker Variants offer an excellent stable re-fuel facility.  Join at around 280KIAS.  Tankers should be placed in missions, away from threats, at 3,000m+ and 280KIAS (FMB waypoint entry).  The Player needs to be able to accurately fly his flightpath to locate the tanker.  You need to have a 'Release Aircraft Key' mapped.  This is from the old 'Mistel' function.  The 'Join/Release Key' is ideally mapped to a HOTAS button on your stick.  The Player aircraft needs to be at a fuel level lower than 100%.  Arriving at around 50% is ideal.

Padlock the tanker, level up and approach slowly.  You need to match speeds and then control your closure.  Bear in mind the spool up time creates a reaction lag.  Airbrakes are a good compromise for quicker speed changes.  Use your friendly padlock to display the closure speed until you can judge it visually.  Close in gently and fly your crosshairs into the drogue.  Hit the 'Join/Release Key' when you are close enough to touch.

No other fuel state preparation is necessary as the A6 Intruder Fuel Probe is permanently deployed.  As you ride with the tanker fuel will be transferred until you are either:  Full of fuel, or the Tanker Flightpath exits the pattern, or the Tanker is threatened or runs out of gas itself.  You can actually see the fuel transfer take place as your fuel guage registers the new levels.  When complete you will be automatically separated, or you may end the process yourself with the 'Join/Release Key'.  All re-fuelling aircraft should leave the Tanker by rolling to the left and gently dropping back until well clear.

AI Aircraft can also be setup to refuel in this way.  The C&C 'Refuel' function should be included in the FMB Mission.

My "Flight of the Intruder" Campaign will be released for this set very shortly.  You will fly in multiple formations and single ship missions.  You will take out Road and River Traffic, Docks and Warehousing, Truck Parks and SAM Sites with Snakeyes and with AGM12Cs in fair weather and foul.  The methods, keys and functions used are described in the detailed briefings.  Failure to either evade or deal with SAMs effectively will not end well.  You will learn how to defeat them and how to destroy them.  You will also be able to 'tank-up' and all missions start and end on the carrier deck.  Ready to go downtown?

...and now for something completely different...

Sukhoi Family - gio963tto - 4S_Vega
THE SUKHOI PACK
Hats off to gio963tto for these wonderful models and to 4S_Vega for their full implementation.  I hope everyone fully appreciates the massive amount of work on the flight models and weapon systems that make these aircraft such a pleasure to fly.  Personally, I have been a Strike Fighters Project and LOCKON/LOMAC fan and participant for many years, right back to the start.  I never dreamed we would see the equal of those models within the Il2 environment.  With Full Mission Builder and all the tools and maps collected in B.A.T. we can see Il2 mods exceed the capability of other sims.  All other sims!

This set includes several variants of the excellent Variable Geometry Wing strike fighter.  Because of this significant 3D and Flight Model upgrade the earlier frankens by Bison_M have been deleted, with the exception of his long nosed Su-15 Flagon Series.

**************************************************************

THE BIG ADVANTAGE OF B.A.T.
With so much SFS content B.A.T. provides a bullet-proof install.  SFS files are mounted with the available material but remain compressed for the best performance, storage and configuration.

As a result the #MOD Folders which contain ALL of the necessary classfiles and ini configuration files to run B.A.T. are tiny.

All 4 B.A.T. #MOD Folders (#DOF3-#TGA3-#WAW3-#JTW3)amount to less than 500Mb!  This makes them very easy to backup, easy to replace, easy to change and move around.  If you somehow damage a #MOD folder and cannot resolve a CTD, simply swap it out in a few seconds.

Providing you have all of the SFS content in the right place and do not mess with it, the small #MOD Folders are all you have to manage.  Back them up and you can never lose the install.

Yippieh! ]wav[

Cheers to the BAT Team for this wonderful release!
I've had the pleasure to test it while it was fresh and warm from the oven and I can only recommend to everyone:
Throw away your self-knitted jet version of IL-2 and grab this one! It's second to none.

Wonderful work Simon & Team.

Oh those timezones, the World is round and tiny!

Thanks Mike, Chris, Andy and Marcus too.

We all know there is a lot more to come.  Key here is the fact that the weapons show up and work on all aircraft.  Everything in here has to go through the hangar and be checked out for all the right features and requirements.  There is nothing elsewhere that we are not already working on, and a hell of a lot more besides!

Special thanks to 4S_Vega for good communication and the hotline to the best in Il2 Jets!

Yes, indeed!
Wasn't expecting this release but here we go.

Thanks a lot! :D

There is always more we are working on, as you well know, but we have a large stable package here.  Let's not keep 'em waiting any longer!  Thanks for your continued efforts!  Onwards and upwards... 8)

'Course we do Bruce.  We manage our time.  The team is the real reason it gets done.  These guys are the best.  I'm confident this set will also sort out your previous issues, which are not your fault, and have you over the fields of Southern England in a beautiful Spitfire before too long...
