I'd like to do a carrier-based Corsair (or Hellcat) campaign to battle against kamikazes and to strike their bases in the Northern Ryukyu Islands.

I wanted to use the USS San Jacinto because I'm a Texan (and because that was President Bush's ship) BUT they only used Hellcats of VF-45. Sorry, I'm more in love with the Corsair. The Hellcat is still a possibility though. And, it might have to be fictional because I don't know if VF-45 flew over those islands.

I cannot seem to find much information about combat in the Northern Ryukyus.
Which carriers? Which squadrons made strikes on the n. Ryukyus?

At first I wanted to do Corsairs with the USS San Jacinto...but historically it didn't carry Corsairs, only Hellcats.
I found a VF-45 Hellcat on asisbiz so I've decided to go ahead with Hellcats instead of Corsairs.

That skin is by Ronnco but I noticed it is a different shade of blue than the French Aeronavale Hellcats which are a darker blue (I think by Tromplamort). Wouldn't the French skins be more correct with their darker blue?
And, a google search for "VF-45 1945" shows photos that seem to have a white cowling - not yellow. Drawings are white also.
Hellcat drawings at Markstyling don't have colored cowlings http://www.markstyling.com/F6F.30.htm but photos prove otherwise.
I'm guessing the cowlings were white. Any input to help with this?
