Thanks so much to

Dennis for testing in BAT and checking it over thoroughly  ;D :D giving some great feedback and things to tidy up on as well  ;D :)
Wayne for testing in another 4.12 version and finding a typo in a texture folder name  :-[
This little typo was in the rar file I made up for downloading not my actual 4.12 map.

Suited for SAS Modact with 4.12 and BAT   ;D :D ;)

All Credits including the additional objects needed are listed in the read me.
All.ini title is also in the read me to add to your all.ini.

A special thanks to Neil Lowe for his original Darwin map version and his great Darwin objects.  ;D :D

All hand painted textures  :D :)

Darwin, Pahrap Civil Aerodrome, RAAF Station Darwin

Ambon and Boela Oil Fields

Dili Portuguese Timor

I used a lot of black and white photos of Darwin from the thirties, including Pahrap Civil Aerodrome and RAAF Station Darwin being built and complete.
I also used a lot of classic W.W.2 photos from all the regions for further inspiration.

A great resource book by Bob Alford Darwin's Air War 1942-45  :D

There will be a further update as I am still working on some squared off water square areas along some coastlines.
That will be next month some  time.

In another few months or so there will be a 43-45 version with all the mile airfields going down the highway from Darwin, a huge Batchelor airfield complex along with Coonalee Creek complex. Also the inclusion of numorous Japanese airfields and seaplane bases. Possibly more population in Dili and a lot of villages thorough all of the islands.  :D ;)

Any loading issues in 4.12 or BAT let me know.  ;) 8)

Happy Flying,

Cheers,
Kirby

Indeed, I did the scenario "Ambon" for the CS series...  Years ago I had convos with cats from the DEI...some of my most memorable experiences...  Well done and cheers.  So much...Cheers

Crap, for that matter I did "Tarakan" for them.  Bandjermassin, and a few others...and the entire invasion of Java.  None of them 'tankers" like it much...but by God it was accurate.  Thanx so much Kirby.  Prost and cheers...

I hope it loaded easily for you Gubi   :D ;)

Gubi Tarakan Island already done in Northern Borneo Prewar-42 map by me as well.

Did a lot of research for Darwin and Northern Territory along with Cerum Island and Ambon.
Very little info for Dili except the landing dates and Japanese campaign there.
Hardly any reference photos for Dili used imagination.

Thanks Edlor (now I can move on to your project ;D )

Cheers,
Kirby

Update reminder again late next month some difficult to locate water squares on some coastlines to finish 42 version  ;)

Hi Kirby

I had a problem loading this great map - found there was a typo in the load.ini

AirField0= Cherar/Vietnam/BrownAirfield_Fields.tga

The corresponding folder is actually Charar

Simple, just change so they are both the same - now loads fine  ;D
This map is marvellous!
I love these huge epic maps and your detail is incredible - I am also working on a series of huge (max size) maps in this area - to cover the period early January 42 to Late April 42 and based on the book "Rising Sun Falling Skies" by Jeffrey R Cox.

Best regards
Mike (Squash)

PS - Sorry to ask a possibly dumb question - In Tex, what is the folder TBN0W3 and  TBN0W3.tga for?

Hi Thanks for finding a typo.
Damn another one  :D ;)

People take heed of the above find  ;) :)

The TBN0W3 and  TBN0W3.tga go straight into your main_Tex folder.
They are the .tgas for the sky I chose.
I chose a dark sky to represent the onset of the wet season you know from Terry's awesome sky pack.
I prefer that spelling compared to his original name spelling.

Cheers,
Kirby

Hi Kirby  ;D Great looking new map!  I really like the dark skies mentioned above - really cool.  Your attention to detail and use of photos for accuracy is to be commended.  Thanks for sharing your efforts with us  8)

I am sure Simon will put this in BAT soon enough  ;D :D

With  the typo that Wayne found earlier and Squashman found yesterday I am sure also due to having a well over due pair of glasses by six months.
Finally got a new pair this week end.  ;D

Looking for rgb 30 squares this and last months played havoc with my eyes.

i chose the entire area for the map because on the same day of raids 1 and 2 at Darwin they invaded KoePang and Dili at Timor. They had already previously captured Ambon and Cerum. The Japanese launched raids from Ambon and Timor after the initial carrier task force strike. The same task force that stuck Pearl Harbor. I wanted to encompass the entire campaign area ;D :D

Thanks for all the comments guys  ;D :D :)

For CT I'll try and re find and post the thirties pictures of Darwin I used soon enough.

Cheers,
Kirby
