Having very strange resolution issue with widescreen monitor.
« on: February 14, 2017, 10:19:19 AM »

hey guys,

Love the work with B.A.T ! truly amazing stuff!

But i am running into a strange issue realted to what i think is an Il2 Issue with my rather large resolution. (3440x1440)

It will initially load perfectly fine, but then the screen refreshes on the loading menu and i get this weird black bar that takes up about 1 quarter of the screen. But its overlayed over the top of Il2 its not actually resizing Il2. its just blocking out that section of it. I can still select buttons, move my mouse in behind the black bar and even screenshots look perfectly fine. when i hit the windows key it goes away, but as soon as i click back into Il2 it appears again (very strange stuff).

I have deduced it resizes the screen to about 2560x1440. I would love to hear some ideas on what it could be as ive tried many suggestions for widescreen users with this sim (fiddling around in conf.ini). it runs fine on my other monitor that is 2560x1440 but its my secondary and off to a weird uncomfortable angle for me to be flying with. If you need any more explanation i will be happy to provide with one but the situation as described above is exactly what is happening.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks a lot guys for a great mod once again!  :)

When your Windows is Windows10 .....

How about it ?

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,50007.msg545757.html#msg545757

Try this:

-Right-click on the shortcut to the Selector
-Go to Properties
-Go to the Compatibility tab
-Check the box that says "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings"

Also, check that the resolution in your conf.ini matches your monitor display. Win10 does some screwy things with resolutions.

Could you take a picture and post it to show what you mean? I kind of see what your saying but without a visual, I'm not sure.

I tried to attach an image before but its saying i am not allowed to. sorry. i think its probably due to some forum rules. But imagine 1 quarter of your monitor black. But underneath the black the game is running at the intended resolution, you are able to interact with all the buttons and options behind it. you just cant see them. It also does not go away in the air, otherwise i would have just put up with it.  :P

one thing to note i have tried reinstalling B.A.T multiple times with the same result and onto multiple different drives, have done the whole compatibility mode shebang and played around with my monitors setting. but nothing seems to change at all.

I feel again compatibility "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" problem from the picture.

Right clicking not il2selector but il2fb , how about ?

Make sure you have this set in conf.ini:

Code: [Select]
[window]
width=3440
height=1440
FullScreen=1
ChangeScreenRes=0
ColourBits=32
DepthBits=24
StencilBits=8
DrawIfNotFocused=1
EnableResize=0
EnableClose=1
SaveAspect=0
Use3Renders=0
WideScreenFoV=1
Use3RendersUI=0

Best regards - Mike

Thanks mike for the confirmation and made sure that everything was set properly but unfortunately it still refreshes the game at about 25% on the loading screen with the black bar. it actually said in the setup it launched in windowed mode but that just isn't true, so i just set full-screen to 0 and launched it again and it launched apparently in full-screen mode. (strangeness intensifying)  :P But then went back to conf.ini set full-screen back to 1 and launched again and got it saying it was launched in full-screen in the in setup menu. but still the looming black bar haunts me.
