Congrats and thank you...
« on: January 25, 2017, 12:20:05 PM »

...to the Hanger19 team, all the individuals (hundreds?) who made the mods they compiled, and the crew at SAS who continue to provide such a great home for us all.

BAT is such an impressive achievement, I can't think of anything like it from any other online community - just outstanding work all round. So outstanding, in fact, that I felt no twinge of doubt about buying an new Steam version of Il-2 and diving into a 50+GB download...all on my first evening at home after 18 months at sea!

Great manual, great package and great support means I'm up to Expansion Pack 6 all working brilliantly straight out of the box...I think :) Now my only concern is wondering what campaign to start!

Thank you to all involved, and sincerely well done

Thanks Screwy

I have been back into FMB again this week, the whole point of the excercise for me, so more campaigns across the board coming from here as well as many other great contributors now writing for B.A.T.

As a flight-simmer, racing driver and gamer for many years online and offline I have been inspired by many of the great overhauls of history. - Operation Flashpoint, Battlefield Vietnam and others, many of the Skyrim Overhauls like Requiem, the Historic GT Car remake of rFactor (still play with that, its brilliant) and countless others.  I love to get into a full on Supermod because the content is massively increased but I know the compatibility problems, the sheer hard graft of installing one by one, has been dealt with.

The need for B.A.T. to do the same thing for Il2 goes way beyond adding a few more planes, ships and tanks.  We have studied many Supermods and Overhauls, their effect on the community, how they help users connect through a common experience and how the 'holistic' approach is a great help in solving all sorts of issues with the modded install.  Hangar 19 began because a group of friends wanted to be able to help one another directly, some were skinners, some were modders, now we all know a lot more!

World at War is well known by now (our favourite behometh) but I think Dawn of Flight and The Golden Age also do an enormous job getting those unique aircraft into the 412+ environment.

The Jet Age is even more special as the most modern jet age aircraft, with unique flight models, avionics, weapon systems and in-flight re-fuelling, require such a specialised environment that they are virtually pointless as standalone mods.  B.A.T. provides an Il2 universe where all this new stuff works right away.

We are very lucky to be in close contact with Western0221, 4S_Vega and others, as they work on the latest SAS-EngineMOD and Weapons Rationalisation.  The Jet Age Flightline at SAS is treated as a group, rather than a series of individual models that cannot fit together.

Making the B.A.T. install complete and linear was the biggest breakthrough in terms of ease of use.  We have SAS~Storebror to thank there, not just for the Installer and Modact code but assisting with the structure, content and overall streamlining.

Even so we couldn't predict everything and I would like to thank the great community here at SAS who have helped to polish B.A.T. even more, report and fix a very few unpredicatables and generally helped to lift others and share their experiences.

A pretty good start to the new year here at SAS.   8)

Much as I would love to be able to download this I live in rural England with the slowest broadband in the world. So sadly will have to stick with 4.12.2 heavily modded, and hope that wonderful work like the Hunter is ported across to a platform I can use.

Very glad that i wanted to take a break from CFS3 and loaded Il-2 '46 and started researching . Can't believe what has been done over the years i've been away. Playing catch-up now and Have 3 installs plus what i have as back-ups on a external ssd. BAT is,in my opinion, the best all-around combat flight sim there is bar none. I should know because i have many cfs installs and like them all but BAT takes the cake. Thanks to all responsible for all the expansions of Il-2 '46. The most fun you can have with your clothes on ! Regards,Scott

Hey gents,

So, I did both 'check-point' AND Bat #10 install, They WORK GREAT!!  ;D Both of the installs were as smooth as butter!  8) 8)
I followed the instructions TO THE LETTER! I have NO third party mods from anyone installed. No problems yet, I've
just started to poke around with WAW, which honestly is the only era of flight, air combat wise at least, that I have a interest
in. Although I do like a good Korean era Mig vs Sabre furball now and again. I did notice that the game does seem to load up a
lot FASTER(!) then before! Nice! :o  I REALLY LIKE the modular way that BAT was designed, if I screw up some thing, I just head
on over to the check-point folders that I saved, replace the funky folder, and voila! I'm back in business!!   ;D ;D
This ability to correct mistakes so QUICKLY, with out to start all over again, is a HUGE advantage in saving time, and preventing
anger and frustration!! VERY GOOD WORK!!! Kudos!!!

Game play is awesome as well!! I had a dogfight with a P47 and two Fw190's. I had a spectacular shoot down of a Fw190 where the gear
dropped down, before crashing! Great!!  8) ;D ;D

I had thought recently about trying out BOS-il2, and COD, but what with BAT now running so smooth, I'm delaying for awhile.
Thanks again Guys!!  ;D
Horrido!
