scale problem:
After checking that there was no "franken" scale factor involved in the hier.him I exported the whole model of te Do24T through Stainless Il2 modder in FBX format, and imported it in 3dmax.
The results show an overall length of 18.36m and an overall wingspan of 19.95m, against the real measurements of  of 21.89m (length) and 27.00m (wingspan).
Tough luck!
This means that the plane model must be resized (+20% in length +35% in width).
As this rescaling is asymetrical, you cannot do that through the scale factor of the Maraz exporter
(frst line of the cfg file: scale_factor   1 ) as it is an harmonious one.
Therefore no other solution than working directly on the meshes in gmax or 3dmax:
selecting all the meshes, creating a group (containing all the meshes) rescaling adequately (x1.1922 length, x1.353 width). resetting, degrouping (checking that the reset has not created havoc in the lods) and re-exporting the meshes one by one.
This will be an occasion to get a closer look at the meshes of troublesome shadows.

Addressing scale problem.

Many THX for your involvement, Zflyer48, as this bird wasn't an easy task to make from scratch ...  ;)

Part of the reason why I posted so many genuine Do 24 pics, is that, like magot, I thought the scale was very wrong and didn't pay justice to that very sleek and elegant bird, but well I thought better this than nothing ...  :P

And now you're going to tackle the scale problem too ...!  8)

I don't often fly flying boats, but I have a soft spot for them. Thank you for this beautiful model of the Do-24, regardless of any scale issues. I look forward to flying her. Cheers!

Using the PBY as a baseline for scale, I am zeroing in on the right dimensions. Then adjustments.

Why you need baseline (PBY) - in real PBN?
IL2 engine have ratio 20:1 against real world.
All planes and other units was modeled with this size.
So create models in 3Dsmax exactly in this ratio.
Best settings in max is set in mm.
Exactly size of real Do-24 is possible found in blueprints.

Besides teething troubles the aircraft/seaplane is pleasing to the eye ,Dorniers design is elegant piece of flying  Art Deco.

Thanks for all the work thats gone into this

Here you're going to get things worse: The PBY wingspan is 31.70m vs 27.0 for the Do24 and the PBY length is 19.46m vs 21.89m for the o24. This means that the PBY is 17.5% wider but 11% shorter than the Do24 measurements!

Where you see PBY? This is not PBY. In IL2 engine never imported PBY any version in any mods or official release.
This PBN - Nomad. Have differ shape and differ size.

Anyway guys I have very nice and accuracy model PBY-5A determined by Oleg for PF. Build by Gibbage in 3rd party.
If you anybody finish it I can send him. Its finished at lod0. Partially mapped. But not cut to pieces. Project is saved in 3dsmax 9. I think that don't have textures.

Magot you are wrongly documented. The PBN and the PBY were initially the same plane with the same dimensions. The Y were the aircraft built by Consolidated Vickers and the N the ones built by Naval Aircraft Factory. Naval Aircarft factory introduced a number of modifications: a bow sharpened and extended by two feet (only),  a taller tail, and stronger wing structure but same wingspan

yes this two feet :D
PBN - 64 feet 8 inches
PBY - 63feet

Btw here is screen PBY-5, still possible do it for IL2 as mod:

It took me 7 monthes from conception to release for this mod in the present scale.
So, give me a chance to fix it. Nitpicking my wordage is not really helpful.
Besides, DWTFYWWI is in effect.
