THE JET AGE EVOLVES

THE JET AGE EVOLVES
Modelling Jet Age Aircraft, fastjets, is one of the most ambitious ideas in all of Il2 Mods.  Based on engine code and flight model data developed right here at SAS1946.com the boundaries of sim-flight are being pushed back every day.

SAS Team Members developed the best Fastjet and Helo flight models, broke the sound barrier, introduced configurable steam catapults, radar, modern weapon systems and in-flight refueling.

Jet Age aircraft are very important for Il2 Modding.  Aside from the sheer joy of flying them these new models and functions make Il2 into a completely new type of sim.

This is not to everyone's taste and largely un-necessary for the WWII purists.  This is the principle reason why I designed CUP in a modular format.  It was important to be able to separate the new Jet Age code from the rest of the sim so that we could take it anywhere without breaking the other stuff.

IN-FLIGHT RE-FUELING
Thanks prinicipally to Western0221 (code, hooks and classfile design) and 4S_Vega (FM's and classfiles) we have quite an impressive range of In-Flight Refueling Options within CUP-The Jet Age.

The KB29 Tanker, with the Boom System, refuels the F-84G3 (Nuke) and the entire F-16 family.  With the appropriate skins this tanker may represent a wide variety of aircraft and services.

The A1H Skyraider and A-4E Skyhawk tankers have a new Drogue System, by Western0221, with lights to indicate fuel flow and a proper stowed model too.

The Navy Drogue re-fuelers will service the F/A18 C&D, AV8B, A7 Corsair family, F-100 and F105 Types, the F7J Fury (Navy Sabre) and F8F family.

The Project 85 System, by Mace, incorporates new MiG-15 models, both strike fighters and tankers.  He also trains you how to use them!

Generally the A1H Skyraider is the most stable and easy to hook up with.  The A4E is more suitable for very fast jets like the Hornets and Harriers.

The original A4E Buddy Tanker is sort of a Franken of a Franken and as a result is not really skinnable.  However, using JSGME, we have several new options which instantly replace the core skin files and allow for different types of A4E tanker to be represented.  The appearance of the model is improved too.  We have JSGME switches to change your A4E tanker to US Navy, Argentine Navy, Israeli Defence Force and New Zealand Navy.

The Refuel Project and Project 85 are just two of the parts of the mighty new JTW Part-10 Upgrade that will be with you well before Christmas!  Stay tuned fastjet fans!

Really enjoyed working and talking with you this weekend Marcus.  Even with an 8.5 hour time difference we got it done!  Sorry about the snow thawing too early...  ;D

Awesome work guys.
I think only a few people understand what tremendous work it is to get all those jets to work properly alongside each other.
To all others: Imagine some task no one else but the CUP team could do, then double the amount of work, double the amount of knowledge required, make everything squared and you will get... no even close ;)

Great thing, thanks a lot for all your efforts!

Best regards - Mike

These jets inside one comprehensive pack are a secure way for the average and advanced users to keep pace with all the new updates in code, Engine mods and prerequisits. Good work all gentlemen involved.

 :)
Cheers

Thanks guys. We know you do this because you enjoy the challenge and satisfaction of cracking a tough problem and getting it right. But the rest of us really appreciate your generosity and willingness to sharing with everyone else. Keep up the good work, it's much appreciated.

This kind of thing is why we have CUP - I have written FMB missions for Thunderchiefs taking off from Thailand, with a full bombload, and gassing up on the way into Route Pack 5.

Good fun to do when you have it all working, but where to start, a modlist?  Pretty soon the missions would be forgotten and the whole discussion bogged down in what works and what doesn't.  It would be a different result for everyone.

So we worked to solve that for two simple reasons:

1) It works for everyone, no fuss or bother, easy install.

2) Now we can all share more detailed missions and even more great skins.   ;D

exactly right simon I bought into cup from the outset.could see what was trying to be achieved and watched in amazement has it unfolded.the sim has evolved despite the limitations of the game engine to be something quite special, offering in depth what no flight sim before it could possibly dream of.even the quality of the graphics on a limited game engine are sometimes bloody amazing, all down to a thriving modding community of enthusiasts.i for one remain extremely grateful to all contributors, carry on guys the skys the limit. kev.
