Operation Air Wolf
« on: October 24, 2016, 02:42:13 AM »

This is my first mod so please go easy on me. It's based off the WWII conspiracy of Hitler escaping Berlin and you play the pilot who does it. Basically, you take off from Gatow in a Fw-189, follow the way point until you see that it goes over a street, that's where you land, "pick up Hitler", taxi your plane around, and take off again flying to Sperenberg. I tried to incorporate as much visual action as I could to make it realistic. There's potential to be taken out by AA guns and soviet fighters, but I never seem to have a problem. I don't know if things may need to be tweaked to make it more challenging, but I think landing in the street is the hardest challenge. Feel free to play around with it in FMB and let me  know if you can make it more challenging.

Use your expert piloting skills learned as a Luftwaffe fighter pilot and evacuate Hitler out of Germany.

I've always enjoyed WWII history and have been interested in conspiracy theories. Ever hear of the one that Hitler may have escaped Germany? This single player mission is based on that. This is my first submission so I would appreciate any comments and criticism. Also, when I constructed the mission it did NOT work in CUP, but worked fine with the SAS/UltraPack mod.

"April 26, 1945. Berlin Germany. The Fuhrer is in hiding beneath the Fuhrer Bunker. In order to safe guard the Third Reich it is imperative that the Fuhrer escapes Germany alive so we may rebuild. You, a loyal and experienced Luftwaffe pilot, have been hand picked with a daring mission. Evacuate the Fuhrer! This mission will take great skill and cunning. You will fly a twin engine observer aircraft, a Fw 189, in the heart of Berlin. There you will land in the street and stop near the Reich Chancellery allowing enough time for the Fuhrer and Fraulein Braun to board your aircraft. You will then fly south towards Sperenberg and land on a small airstrip. Beware of Soviet fighters in the area. We will dispatch a pair of Fw-190's to escort you. Good luck!

*NOTE: This is where imagination comes in. The way point leads onto the street-follow it and land your plane (be careful! This is the hardest landing you will ever do, but it can be done. It took me on my second try). Taxi to the row of vehicles at the end of the street, slowly do a 360 degree turn. Park (with engines running) for however long you deem would be enough time to load two passengers into the plane (remember, imagination), adjust flaps for take off, and go!

Good luck and I hope you enjoy it!

Thank you for this. I will give it a go. Good on you for making a first contribution. I been using this site quite a while now, and have made zero contributions to the mod.  It may be easy to adapt this mission to a 'Rescue Mussolini in a Fi156'.... The two would kind of go together....  I personally like the 'spin off' quirky stuff in IL-2 like Tintin and Porco Rosso... I recently tried to request a campaign that simulated the Foo Fighter phenomenon in WW2.  The response I got was mild derision and condescension ... so i know what you mean about ' go easy on me'

Same here, zero contribution but I saw (I think on the BoM/BoS official forum???) somebody saying "you mod for yourself and then eventually you happen to share". I thought it was a quite good approach to modding/feedback/comments/critics...
It's great to create something and thank you for sharing !

I do like the "Rescue Mussolini" idea. Also, the Foo Fighter one sounds interesting. I wonder how much factual info there is on those incidents? I might try and come up with something. For some reason I may be limited to designing missions in the SAS mod and not CUP mod. My FMB missions wont save in CUP.

Dear Sgt68 and ummagumma32,
there are two already existing " Mussolini rescue" single missions  named "Gran Sasso", one with a glider and the other one with a Fieseler. Hard to avoid a crash.
Best regards.

Yes indeed - and if I want to deal with Foo Fighters I shall play Strike Fighters 2 cos they got that covered - kind of...  ;D

Great!  8) Thank you very much.
Thank for your contribution to the IL2-1946+Mods !

I do not have so much time to create quick missions and these are always welcomed for us all.
