I found this map made in WW 2 apparently in India hence no Dutch names.

Shows the rail system in the early 40's as well as the oil field locations.

Now I can add in some infrastructure and the oil fields from this map.

There was also a pipeline from the Rembang oil field to Surabaya oil field.

Max's oil/pipes objects/repaints come to mind  :D :D

Don't want to use modern maps of the area  :D :D

Sweet  :D

Awesome as usual Uff  :D

I have also been searching 3d dutch colonial buildings. I have found just a few such as an East Indies apartment complex along with a lot of British colonial buildings with the pillars etc but not quite true to form not Dutch.

Thinking of purchasing some as they are not free down loads.

Leiden University has Dutch colonial maps of the NEI available online:

Hope this will be useful.

Since working on this map it really needs a population pack of Dutch colonial buildings.  ;) :)
i am looking at/considering converting some low poly google sketch up Dutch colonial buildings from Java.
Also some religious monuments and temples.
I have to do it this way I think Sketch Up model to 3dMax then to GMax
Slowly learning the first conversion  :D
Getting use to it all others crossing fingers should follow.

The map truly needs it similar to Niel Lowe's Darwin map with a pack of objects for it.
My 3d experience is putting an airfield plate one of Kevin P's tutorials into the game. ;D

cheers
Kirby

Will post some pics of what I have in mind just to give some examples.

Doing a lot of searches in 3d Warehouse I have found numorous models to suit.
Looking at low poly end models some are around 75 250 or so up to 500 or so polys.

Best source for Dtch colonial/art deco 1920 etc buildings

Also warehouses, hotels tax office, post office, row house etc and religous monuments.
The religous monuments are very high in polys but there are a couple that are really low.

About 20 new object (crossing fingers  ;D ) would do for population

Cheers

I scanned a Dutch book about Batavia a few years ago, which contains lots of pics. There should be a similar book on Soerabaja, but I haven't found it yet. Still, the pics of Batavia should give some useful info for modelling Soerabaja I think.
The Dutch books on the "Java" and "Sumatra" and the "de Ruyter" contain a few pics of the naval base at Soerabaja and these may be useful. Let me know whether you require any of them.

Yes for sure I think the new objects will start after Christmas some time.
I am eventually getting some help with that soon enough
Just to go through a couple of building first to get the hang of it all.

With the current in game objects not quite right for this project at all

I think about 20 new dutch colonial buildings and say 5 religious structures should be fine for the project then it would be a very genuine area map.

cheers

Dunno if it helps, there's a colonial museum located in Amsterdam. They have good
resources, I wouldn't hesitate to ask for guidance. Such archives are pretty friendly
towards us small Modders. I searched a Royal Hungarian Air Force Colour Catalogue.
The colour manufacturers today on behalf of my querry in Budapest had no interest.
I think they feared work or someone doing nasty things with their patents.
A friendly Archival in Berkeley scanned it for me and was very happy to have a bit work.
Cheers
