Dear Monty after installing DAWN OF FLIGHT SOUNDSET - 01 many of planes' machine gun have returned to his beauty WWI sound (ta-ta-ta-ta), especially the germans.
Ok, but there are still some problems with some plane's machine gun.
Visualizing all the planes I have also found other bugs and in any case I state that perhaps depends on my installation  (or my DOF) but I would ask you to check you too (or some other nice guy).
Maybe some bugs were present before and I had not noticed them and I apologise for this.
Below a list:
N.B. where I write "no WWI sound" I mean no ta-ta-ta-ta sound but a softly sound like the WWII machine guns.

Aviatik B1 : no WWI sound (others Aviatik are ok)
AEG C IV: rear gunner machine gun has a strange echo as if it hit the fuselage.
AEG C IV N : same as above.
Hansa Brandeburg C.I (polish version): the upper wing gun doesn't work
AEG G IV bomber: same problem as AEG C IV
Friedrichshafen G.III: no WWI sound and double gunner view options
Zeppelin-Staaken R IV: no gunner view
Morane Saulnier H/I/LF/LF/LF2/RG: no WWI sound
Morane Saulnier LA/LR/LRG/LP early and late: front and rear machine gun no WWI sound
Morane Saulnier N is OK
Nieuport N4A/10/10C1/11: no WWI sound
Nieuport 10 AR: no WWI sound and it's impossible to jump on rear gunner view
Sopwith Trench Sweeper: no WWI sound
Sopwith Camel and Snipe: no WWI sound (and to me seems quite worst than alotef's mod shows)
Hanriot HD1 France: machine gun doesn't function (Hanriot HD1 italy is OK)
RAF BE2c/skis: no WWI sound rear gunner echo as AEG C IV
RAF BE2 Night: no WWI sound
RAF RE8c /Bristol F2B: no WWI sound also rear gunner
Ilya Muromets S25 G3/S 23 V: no gunners view
Caproni bombers (all type): no WWI sound
Caproni Ca42: no gunners view
Sopwith Schneider: no WWI sound
Handley Page 0/400: no gunners view
Curtiss felixstone (both type): no WWI sound

Maybe I've annoying you  :(
Thanks in advance.
Poiana.

I've got to ask the obvious questions about the Roland: How did the WWI pilots see forward,
I think the Rolland is the only DOF a/c that you can't see your target by using the control keys "lean left " "lean right " "crouch down" "rise up" etc

 :D

Mind you, it appears to be modeled pretty accurately......

Haven't really located a clear photo depicting pilot seated in the Roland. A few model aircraft sites show models with a pilot whose head seems at least positioned slightly above the top of the wing. Tried controls to adjust head position in DOF but I never get above the wing and can't see the bullet stream. Must have been tough to fly this one.

Re: C.U.P.- Module 02 - Dawn of Flight Pt-12 Rotary Engines
« Reply #16 on: February 06, 2016, 12:30:59 PM »

Hi ..Have installed DOF up to Part 12B and all working as advertised.. Can anyone offer advice on Rotary Engines?

I have set up Keys for the magnetos and the do affect the speed/power of Aircraft..  Problem is that all Rotary Engine aircraft crawl along on 2 magnetos and overheat,burn-out or ignite on 2+1  >:(

eg E-111 max 80kph  DR1 max 100 kph,  Pup max 100, Camel 100.
 Any hints welcome

First of all, i want to thanks all people who worked very hard to give us the best experience possible with all those mods, i really appreciated your efforts.

Now i want to report something weird concerning the FM of the Fokker DVII. That plane jerks and shakes around all the time o_O and was wondering if something exist to fix it.

Switch off the Engine Overheat thing in Difficulty. It is far too sensitive.

Jimbo947 & Carcajou101............Welcome to 1914-18  :D

To answer most of your questions would take quite some time so I suggest you read the Fokker EIII Eindeker thread especially bottom of title page ,reply #79 . #83 and my reply #87.......

"  I love the E III ( and all the a/c we've got with full engine management) one of the joys of DBW 1916 is listening to the engine and then adjusting the settings to make the old girl fly as best as possible....
I fly the E III as the original boom'n'zoomer.....first stalk your target at maximum distance....approach on their blind side......rise slowly (very slowly) 500m + above them....shallow dive ( too steep and the wings will come off and engine will over rev and seize up).. aim for the pilot ( I've found that the Farman and the Be2c will take an awful lot of hits before burning and you've just got the one m/g !)
Generally, you've got one chance to strike as I've found the Farman & Be2c will outrun the E III comfortably  >:(  "

You'll also find that some a/c are very prone to overheating....the Sopwith Strutter comes to mind.....take David's advice and switch the overheating button off in the difficulty section.

It's really a case of using the tiny amount of power the a/c makes to your advantage...................to kill your adversary  o_O  :D
If all else fails have a go flying the Pfalz E I which actually has A THROTTLE CONTROL and a bit more grunt......

Well spotted Carcajou101....... the Fokker DVII is the problem child of the family ....it's had that "tic" ever since it was built and has baffled everyone since......including all of our resident FM/ Java geniuses....if you're any good at Java , have a go at fixing her....if you do you'll make an awful lot of people very happy  ;D

Cheers

Practice, and deflection shooting are the key to that.
