Theatre of War - MegaMod Pack for Berlin ruins and other textures, conversion by Ectoflyer

The main goal of this project was to rebuild the map in a fps friendly way. Besides the city, I updated every village and airfield, everything has new textures of course. Credits go to Compans for some of the amazing field textures. The map also includes more than 40 new objects, plus countless number of reskins and damage textures for stock and mod buildings. The pack includes only summer and autumn versions right now.

I included a few QMBPro missions for testing, there are destroyed and undamaged Berlin versions in the missions, there are also two single missions in the DE folder for Berlin'45 scenario. I didnt build more missions because Mission4today.com has many Berlin campaigns (by PhilK) and EnjoyR's dgen patch / Reichsverteidigung campaign (by Boelcke) is also recommended.

I hope you're gonna like these maps. :)

VPMedia this is a superior and overdue idea. I had been looking longingly at the Berlin map for an SEOW campaign but the framerates are just downright preventative. I have no doubt but that in your capable hands it will be an excellent makeover. Are you giving any consideration for a "lightened" version for online use? (please don't hiss at me guys , I know where I am !).

Regardless , I am looking forward eagerly to see your evolutions , VP . I know it will look great.

Hey VP,

            For the best purposes of SEOW online , the larger map area is actually more useful , as the periphery of the campaign map becomes the home of factory production , airbases , etc. What I refer to as a lightened version is meant more as a leaning of the objects to the minimum that still gives the abstract impression of the scope of a huge city like Berlin. It may not even appeal to an artist like yourself to attempt such a thing , as you are clearly an observer of acute historical detail.
            Perhaps , if you are willing , you would consider turning over a VPMedia Minimalist version of your work , with the structures that to you feel are fundamentally key to represent Berlin , and let some unartful SEOW worker bees adapt it for that purpose ?
Totally understandable if you are not willing to compromise your vision , but I am compelled to ask.

Whatever you produce , I am sure the results will be exquisite.

No, if you want to you can keep the old ones with 500m view distance and broken 3d lighting...or my special favourite, the purple Reichstag  ;)

Some pics:

I managed to create a decent looking undamaged Reichstag which can be part of the maps actors.static, the previous 'damage only' version was nice, but useless for the map rebuild.





I also found a great set of aircraft wrecks hidden in the Modworx section, these will be used for the object template mis file:

Another good news is that I totally fixed the fps problems of the entire city so it will be possible to have dogfights over the central part of Berlin which previously was unplayable.



All I need to do to finish the project is to place a few hundred houses and trees.

The problematic part is what objects to include in the download, for this reason I need a CUP and HSFX7 and a unmodded SAS modact user to help me with an universal static ini checker test, the actors static which needs to be tested is here: http://ulozto.net/xJHsALow/actors-7z
what I need is the list of missing objects for each modpack. Its really a big problem that there isnt an all inclusive, regularly updated object pack for IL-2. What I'm using right now is the DBW objects set with all the extra objects I could find on this site.
