agracier's Casablanca finished / populated
« on: July 28, 2015, 12:23:18 PM »

I hope I did this halfway allright.

The map shall be fun to fly and give a glimpse of Northern Africa  not represent the area correctly to the detail, ...but it is fun to fly. Not what you see exactly one on one or 90% close but - I'd say-and thanks to agracier, gives a very good feel for the area. I like acracier's maps because of his choice of areas.

Stand by for updates, even today maybe:
I will re-use coast align, just in case and also revisit a stance of "special". I hope you have the same meditational feeling I had when flying low there.

Uufflakke,

same, city templates from Sidi Ifni, which I dilletantly ripped apart.

populating, adding stuff, airbases-

Readme included.
You will need pretty much all objects, I built the map inside DBW 1.71 and tested it in Mod Act 5.3, notes on how to get maps working in Mod Act 5.3/ 4.12.2

Let me know if there are bugs and errors, I mean real bugs not ugly stuff which for sure is in as well. A bug e.g. is a building on the water, obstacles on an airbase or a freak feature accidently added.

The map by no means is as artsy as Sidi Ifni >:(, and by no means as populated. If you wanna see towns and villages fast, best navigate by the map.
My choice for landlight.mat btw is the darker one, I made the brighter one default here, since I hoped most chaps prefer it this way, nothing else. ;)

If you are interested, please check the readme . ;)

Only 3-4 out of 60-80 (?) cities and villages are real FPS eater, especially Casablanca, which I did not even aim at making correct, so for the capital I simply planted what I found adds a tad volume.

The other villages hopefully make up for that. :P

Hope you enjoy.

I did not aim for "WWII only" "Jet Era only", you can fly this map with props and jets. ;)

Link, this is a first and likely will be replaced by one or more fixes and add-ons...ma_T.tga--cough.

Aside all the crap I typed here the readme really says all.

Will upload the latest version soon.  :P
Worked all night.

Many thanks for the kind word, fellas. :)

Kirby:
I think that was a sort of road plate with the river.  :-\

As for the rivers and their partial stunts, I decided to balance levelling vs. immersion. Today I fully levelled them and it looked worse, so they are ok as they are in my humble opinion as any further change there was to the dismay of the surrounding landscape no matter if on map_h or map_c.   ;)

Cheers

Quicks!

https://www.mediafire.com/download/hp5rhro52mlhr76/Quicks+for+Casablanca+-+in+QMB+folder%3B+extract+and+into+relevant+folder.rar

Hope at least the RedArmor and BlueNone are fun, spent an evening making a few starter Quicks.

Screens later!

If you have issues with FPS, try either another Quick or self built mission farer away from detailed areas or disable a few of the texture bump files. For me and my old 5 years milf rig it works. :D

Placed a few cameras in some Quicks as well.

Sorry--update is now in post No 1 as well as here, along with the above Quicks. ;)

Like I said more screens later.

If there will be a new version, I will put it in post No 1 each time.

BTW this map looks best at 15.30-1700 or morning, but can be flown on all times.

Here's a 2nd link lol.
https://www.mediafire.com/download/r65r7r6t8gb5dbj/agracier%27s+casablanca.rar

Today I will upload a last optional file or update anmd then it's good with uploads for the time being.

Hi Thorst
I really liked one screen in the first lot of screens showing a river surrounded by undulating hills that looked more natural.  ;D
I hope it is back to that way.

Have not seen that particular object as a road but definitely as an airfield plate set.

Your map updates should all be CUP maps you know CUP-Thorsten's Map at the beginning of the drop down maps list in QMB Pro as you make them jet age as well.  ;)

Hehe Kirby..the southern rivers to up to east of Casablanca look all ok, the northern ones are a bit spoiled but I kept it a way that allows for fun on 95% of the map.

If you compare their flaw with the initial mod I made for agracier's super Ifni, this map here hits it better and most rivers are fun to fly through even with their northern extremes.

Thanks for the kind words, O can assure you the Quicks for this map, while demanding (NO compromise for object details on coasts)-are fun. At least RedBridge and RedArmor...hehe.

Keep up your awesome commitment Kirby, I could never play in your league.  :)

Cheers

Thorst.
