If UUfflakke agrees, I post a little upload, so this can be inserted into your mods folder, e.g. WAW in CUP.

Hei! Look...
I've also learned how to add shadows to objects!!!
Far better now, don't you think so?
Now I'm back to desert after years! :P
But have a lot of work to do before... :(
Thanks WxTech for the hints!

This sounds and looks great.
Do I need to do this with 3DMAX or something?
... Or can I just do it by copying existing lines and add them somewhere else?

I would like to give this a try to give some shadows to our Soldier models in the game. I am painting new soldier models and repainting with
more details the old ones. The old ones are all very nice but are needing a little upgrade.

If my testing goes good, I will make all my humans have shadows too. More realistic looking scenes for everyone.
Soon, new soldiers will arrive to maps from WW1, WW2, Korea-war , Vietnam-war and civilians for city life and factory work !  ;D

No need to use 3dMax! Just edit the MSH file (.msh) with some text editor.
Follow instructions provided by WxTech on reply#9 from previous page... ;)

At the moment I find it all a bit confusing for my old brain.  :P I am old fart! LOL

I will investigate the files of what the old object models from the Mideast used to look like, and
check the new ones to see what exactly are the lines that were changed or added to them.

It sounds like its easy... but at the moment I feel a bit lost. Call me an old Geezer  ;D AAAAAHAHAHA

Look at the MSH file.
There are sections like these:
[Vertices_Frame0]
[Faces]
Each section contain all necessary coordinates.

To add shadows write new sections like these:
[ShVertices_Frame0]
[ShFaces]
copy & paste those same coordinates at the new sections and you're done!

Do the same for each LOD(1,2,etc.)
LOD sections appear like these (example):
[LOD1_Vertices_Frame0]
[LOD1_Faces]

So you must add new sections like these (example):
[LOD1_ShVertices_Frame0]
[LOD1_ShFaces]

It works great!
We do not need to clean the ends of lines. The copy / paste is enough!
Thank you very much for tips !  ;)

Hi!

I have some issue not correctly showing thise objects:

[buildings.House$BahaiGarden1]
Title Bahai_Garden_1
MeshLive        3do/Buildings/Mideast/Bahai/garden1.sim
MeshDead        3do/Buildings/Mideast/Bahai/garden1.sim
AlignToLand     1
Body            RockMiddle
Panzer          5.25

[buildings.House$BahaiGarden2]
Title Bahai_Garden_2
MeshLive        3do/Buildings/Mideast/Bahai/garden2.sim
MeshDead        3do/Buildings/Mideast/Bahai/garden2.sim
AlignToLand     1
Body            RockMiddle
Panzer          5.25

[buildings.House$Keops]
Title           Keops Pyramid
MeshLive        3do/Buildings/Mideast/EgyptRuins/pyr_keops.sim
MeshDead
Body            RockBig
Panzer          5.00

The first 2 don't show but don't give me any error message while the third give me this error:

INTERNAL ERROR: Can't find '[ShFaces]' in file '3do/Buildings/Mideast/EgyptRuins/Pyr_Keops.msh'
WARNING: object '3do/Buildings/Mideast/EgyptRuins/Pyr_Keops.msh' of class 'SkinTL' not loaded
INTERNAL ERROR: MeshObj: Can't load mesh 3do/Buildings/Mideast/EgyptRuins/Pyr_Keops.msh
WARNING: object '3do/Buildings/Mideast/EgyptRuins/pyr_keops.sim' of class 'SIM' not loaded
INTERNAL ERROR: MeshObj: Can't load SIM 3do/Buildings/Mideast/EgyptRuins/pyr_keops.sim

In the previous version only the first 2 don't show....

....any help is really appreciated!

About Bahai Garden 1 and 2: they do show up in object viewer when you let objects turn around. Then you see a part of the 2d flat object appearing.
And when inserting them to a map they are visible anyway.

About the Keops pyramid: open the Pyr_Keops.MSH file in notepad and at the bottom change
[Faces]
0 1 2
9 5 3
10 6 4
11 7 8

into

[SHFaces]
0 1 2
9 5 3
10 6 4
11 7 8

A typo from my side. [Faces] should be [SHFaces].  :-X
Now the pyramid is visible again and error message is gone.

Accordingly I corrected the 1st page download link.
