plane explodes on bomb release

Flying the F-100 last night, i released bombs over a target only to explode immediately. a quick test proved my fear, it was caused somehow by the release of my ordinance. I seem to remember this from an earlier version, and was wondering where the fix is now. Anyone remember? Thanks for any pointers.
