fps-friendly engine start smoke
« on: March 10, 2015, 04:41:18 AM »

a few days ago I finally had enough when I load and run a test mission
I once made me:

when all this Hellcats starts their engines,
FPS gets loooow, very low.  :P

So i made me a quick fix to avoid this very bad fps.  :-X

As it works for me I share it to those
who have the same FPS problems
and/or do not need/like this smoke effect.

Install: unpack "00_TEST_412_ Engine_Start_smoke_FPS-friendly.7z",
(in the attachment below) into your 4.12.x #SAS folder,
or whereever you have your 4.12.2 games install dir.
Rename the mods name when necessary.

Please report any problems you have.
when someone made such a fix before,
please tell me.

Have fun.   :)

There is another "Aircraft start up smoke" version by dpeters available here,
just give both a try and see what works better for you.  8)

and see snipertons post in reply #10 below!

:) A well done job Gerhard, can confirm it runs under my ole DBW 1.71 giving
a less struttered Start-up when firing 2 cramped Essex Class Vessels. Cool stuff.
Best wishes

I splitted all the posts regarding Barkhorns request hot to get the full deck carrier as shown the pic in post #1 into a new thread in the CUP section here:

Thank you very much, Gerax!

I'm also using this lovely mod with UP3 RC4 for a while now and haven't had any Problems so far.

It's an improvement for me, from "unplayable" to "significant FPS drop", thank you very much

You may want to experiment a bit with your settings in the .eff files. It's easily possible to have a startup effect with no FPS drop at all. EngineStart1-2-3:
