BoS and Freetrack ~SOLVED~
« on: December 29, 2014, 08:11:18 AM »

I have a Problem with BoS and Freetrack:

BoS was working perfectly fine before i installed the Freetrack Software (v2.2.0.279), and after first using that I got a strange problem:
BoS won't launch anymore. Steam seems to work fine, but I can't see the BoS loading screen. I just get the Windows (OS: Win7) "This program doesn't work anymore.." message, which tells me that the Problem is "APPCRASH", and the origin is in "KERNELBASE.dll". Does anyone know anything about that?

Ok, I looked around a bit, tested, analysed and now (I hope) I can roughly say what happened:

The first time I open Freetrack, I get the Message "Software failed to register". It looks like the FT software tries to register at the KernelBase.dll in my system, but it can't (reason?). Because of that, something inside the KernelBase.dll is changed, and unfortunately this part seems to be needed by BoS, which thereafter won't launch anymore.

After that, FT has no problem with registering when launched for the second time and works fine, but the error in KernelBase.dll seems to be still there.

So here are my questions: Could it be happened as described above? And,does anyone know how I could fix this?

Seen this one?
http://www.free-track.net/forum/index.php?showtopic=1594&page=3#20013

Freetrack seems to have issues with different DPI settings (i.e. enlarged/smaller fonts etc.).
Just a wild guess.
Other than that, when a program wants to modify windows system files, you should right-click and run it as administrator.

Hate me for it, but... you get what you paid for. I never heard of such issues with TrackIR...

Hi
i have installed BOS latest version i think 1.008 :-X
Rise of Flight and Cliffs over Dover Team Fusion Patch (the latest)
and Freetrack 2.2 is just running fine on all 3 games.

important for your Freetrack 2.2 on Win7 64  is the Patch for FIX FreeTrack PS3eye
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,12977.0.html first post on the bottom

also see here http://forum.free-track.net/index.php?showtopic=4350

in BoS you Need too edit the startup.cfg file manually by enable the Trackir Funktion from 0 to 1

this is only copy from I2Sturmovik Forum(sorry didnt find the orginal site anymore)

For Battle of Stalingrad:
Here is what you have to do:
1.Download the newest patch
2.Go to the <game folder>/data/startup.cfg and find the section [KEY = input] and set the paramater as shown: old_trackir = 1 (you can open the .cfg file with Notepad) save the file and close it.
3.go into Free-track and go to the "Output" section. make sure all are unchecked except for "TrackIR interface" box.
4.Restart both the game and Free-track (just to be sure).

for Cliffs over Dover :
you Need Patch for FIX FreeTrack PS3eye  ------------- this is very important for you Freetrack 2.2 install in Win7 64 for all games
see on this site on the bottom of first post
Patch for FIX FreeTrack PS3eye
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,12977.0.html

same for Rise of Flight

Hi Germy,

I have no Problem with Freetrack and PS3eye, I already installed the patches/fixes you mentioned in your reply (thank you for that :) ).

My Problem is, that the Freetrack software at its very first time launched, changes something in a system file called "KernelBase.dll". That brings no Problems for Freetrack itself, but : BoS seems to need this file, and it doesn't like the change FT made to it. => I cannot even start BoS! (reason for that is "APPCRASH" origin is said "KernelBase.dll") I don't see the Loading screen, nor the login screen, I only get this:

In order to give you something to start with, I've uploaded the "kernelbase.dll" files of my german Windows 7 64 Bit OS here:
https://www.mediafire.com/download/ysd9k4jq1v2x5ya/kernelbase_windows7_64bit_german.zip

Note that there are two "kernelbase.dll" files on a Windows 7 64 bit system, one is for 32 Bit applications, the other for 32 bit ones.
I left the folder structure for the files in the zip archive accordingly.

You will need to play tricks to your windows system in order to replace those dlls, you might want to read
http://www.winfuture-forum.de/index.php?showtopic=202742
or
http://www.drwindows.de/windows-7-allgemein/45562-system32-datei-loeschen-bzw-ersetzen.html
or generally
https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=dll+in+system32+ersetzen

Since usually applications aren't able to touch files in the windows system folders, it's quite likely that something went wront with the freetrack installer when it tried to modify these files.
The files on my system have been released on march 4 2014, so the freetrack installer at least needs to be newer than that date in order to be able to successfully apply patches to that file, and it has to be run with administrative privileges, maybe you even need to boot in safe mode to be able to install it correctly.
