The version will be light snow and the Central Ukraine map will have a choice of frozen rivers or unfrozen liquid water.
IIRC, winter 1944 had the Dnepr frozen at Kherson for a period of time though.
Yeap, thats right 4 CU map. Hero of Soviet Union I.E. Fedorov in his memoirs told about rain with snow at winter 1944, non-flying weather, very low snow clouds (300-500 meters max) at SU, general Savitsky directed him to recon in this period around the area of 4 Ukrainian Front action. By the way, my grandmother told me that in January the Germans and Romanians tried to break through in the Crimea near Tsuryupinsk, but the VVS bombed them in midstream and the corpses of horses and men sailed down the Dnieper. No frozen Dnieper near Golaya Pristan in January 1944 (in wich weeks?). Here information from 4 Ukrainian front diary about 8 VVS Army action (all in russian, sorry):http://forum.aviaskins.com/showpost.php?p=117887&postcount=1 day by day from october 1943 till spring 1944.
Cheers

Mamaia-Village airport
The legend says:

1- Hangars 2600 square metres
2- Barraks and simmilar constructions
3- Plane parking areas

(No word about the AA guns form the S-E of the airfield

After 1945 the airfield was the base of the soviet air force dislocated in Dobrogea.
In 1958 Mamaia Village airport was closed

Balaclava - at last! And Cape Khersones looks promising. Historical pre-1946 names is great feature.
Can't wait to see improved Crimea map. Great job, well done.
