Ring and bead gunsights
« on: October 01, 2014, 06:52:46 AM »

There are a lot of aircraft in the game that have backup ring and bead sights such as the zero however when I start the sim it's folded up next to the reflector one is there any way or unwritten key combo or setting I need so I can use it?

I'm wondering the same thing. Every time I play in the zero I always wish I could use that secondary sight.

I know it's already in the sim to use because when you start the sim the first thing that happens is it folds up

Yeah I've noticed that. I know that in order to fold the sights up and down on a couple aircraft such as the CW-21, A-20, and SM-79, you can press control D. I've always wondered if you can use that command to work the secondary gun sights, but I've never tried.

The secondary sights fold down into use when your primary illuminated sight is damaged or destroyed.

The P-47 and the Zero i have experienced it on both.

Really? That seems convenient, although I've never experienced it before.....weird.

Nobody here says what version they're playing but V4.12 comes with a 6DoF installed through the control board. It's found under the "Pan View" section and is called "Head Movement." You need to tie a button or key(s) to activate it (I use a button on my joystick). You then, while holding the key(s) or button, use you mouse to move your head left, right, forward, and back. Again, holding the key(s) or button, use the mouse wheel to move up and down. With this you can align the ring and bead sights.

A simpler approach of course is to use TrackIR or something like it.

These sights have save my a$$ more times than enough.
