SFS Files
« on: August 23, 2014, 05:32:45 AM »

Hi Guy's
Another noob question if I may, I want to download the DBW New-TFM Mod (but if I don't know where to install these files, It's a waste of time)

https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,35424.0.html

But noticed that it has SFS files that have to be installed in the game,

fb410_clay01.sfs
fb410_clay02.sfs
tigersounds_1.sfs
tigersounds_2.sfs

Could someone please explain what FSF files are, and where do I install them into the game folders
This is all new to me, so please, be gentle. ;) Hope that I have given enough info this time, if not I'll try again

Hi Iron! To install a mod pack, follow carefully  the instructions, there are no need to know a lot of things about modding or files. It´s like "If you build it, he will come"
If Am I right, SFS files are the "game lenguage" compressed files. Everithing it´s there, planes, objects, sounds, etc.
Those files you point at, seems to be  the 4.10 patch and a sound files mod pack.

The SFS format allows to both compress and encrypt files, it is the format used in stock IL2-1946 game.

Normally SFS files are placed at the root of the game.

fb410_clay01.sfs
fb410_clay02.sfs

... are those necessary to get Claymore's FW190/Ta152 pack.

tigersounds_1.sfs
tigersounds_2.sfs

... are those necessary to get Tiger's UV3 sound mod.

Hi Mick
by saying Normally SFS files are placed at the root of the game. is this the install directory folder? (Don't know what "root of the game means, sorry.).
as for your other question "are those necessary to get" I don't know, I just do as per instructions ;D
Hopefully I will learn more as time goes on :(

... yep, ironcross, root of the game means where all other native SFS files are, so main directory ...  ;)

It is because the SFS format could be cracked, at least to extract their content, that we can now have a modded game ...
