Master F_Red's (former Freddy's) P-51 cockpits reuploaded
« on: August 20, 2014, 06:27:39 AM »

Dear IL-2 fans,

335th_F_Red (former Freddy) made IMHO the best P-51 pits for IL-2 so far, at least for later models from later "Bs" onward.

For me they only work in my old HSFX 4.11 install, which I back then also had modded with HistoMod 2.1. :-*

I always loved his B/C pits and played a bit with them. By default, the JSGME load order was Files/classfiles and 3do/cockpit.

I tried to pack them so they can also be put into the Mods folder for a modded install. They also worked in 4.12.

If in doubt, deactivate the classfiles with a minus sign-or back up your Files folder and put the entire mod (3do, classfiles) there..into "Files". But for me the "Mods" folder version works, as uploaded here..

For the B model pit, modified the canopy reflection to be a bit smoother aka no pixels showing and a tad less dirt look.

For the C model, did the same for the reflection.

Plus made the front panel section in front of the gauges and gunsight a dark olive tone, as seen in RL P-51 footage. With backups. You can also use these files for the B version, I saw both in RL videos.

!! As an extra, I add the other 2 Freddy/335th_F_Red Mustang cockpits within this folder as they are original. !

In the event of them not showing up in your install or not working, deactivate "P-51D-20(K14)" and "P-51D-20(N9)" with a minus sign in front e.g. or delete them.

Install:

Put the folder P51_Cockpitsby_F_Red+ into your "Mods" or #SAS etc. named folder.

Credit..

335h_F_Red

me ;)

Originally I also made a version with cromhunt gauges and panels applied and another change but since this is a matter of taste I suggest those who want to play with those try them from cromhunt's page.

This was for fun and to bring back Freddy's great Stangs.

Cheers

Tom2

If you want a classic and original load order:
Name the mod
P51_Cockpits
Put a Files named folder in them-create.
In that folder named Files put the classfiles and 3do folder
Put that into JSGME
Activate.

Only do so if you know what you do! This was the classic HistoMod way to activate these mods in 2010 AFAIK.

Do not share this version elsewhere without asking 335th_F_Red. A simple matter of politeness. He kindly allowed me to re-upload his pits.
Thanks for that!

And DBW:

A 50% nogo. ;)

There is no guarantee that mod will work for you outside 4.09m, but you can try. In 4.12 it seems to work.

Thanx Tom, BTW has anyone figured out how to open the canopies of the "B" & "C"?

Well, tbh, I have no clue.  ;)
I know the HistoMod guys crafted that stunt for the next version, but unfortunately they did not use F_Red's pits for it.

Must be some code change, well above my head.
I agree having them with this feature would really add very much, flying with an open "C" canopy e.g.
However, even as they are, they are much fun.
Another plane I would love to have with opening side and top doors and the window would be the P-38, with a built in fix to prevent canopy jaggyness. :P
Such a pit will be in IES 1, but I did not test it as I'm out of the loop there.

Wow I guess if this mod had a blinking 4.12 symbol some more chaps would check it. It has in effect...but I start to like my new fav game here. :P

All credit to:

my favourite cockpit master, 335th_F_Red aka Freddy

PA_Jeronimo for 3D rework

Rest as above! :D

https://www.mediafire.com/download/6b71hdgjdccz8e2/P-51_Fix_Cockpit%C3%82%C2%B4s_Freddy.rar

Note:
The P-51D-20(K-14) Freddy fix contains a new tinted HUD/front shield:
This one can also be changed: -w..ith a 2nd "-refl.tga" named file, that one is green tinted.

All files overwrite the above mod.

Few shots, exemplarily:

All smoother now-but Freddy's pit-as opposed to others, already were very smooth, he made IMO very amazing cockpits here! :) :-*
Credit to him. Also thanks for allowing me to upload these.

PS:
You have to manually insert the fixes into the folder where your P-51 Freddy pits reside.

You can ignore "P-51D_Cockpit´s_Fix_PitShield" for now, that is an option by master Jeronimo.
I adopted stuff best I could for this pack, thanks to PA_Jeronimo.

These as well as my other mod are sort of advanced for users capable of understanding the structures, and I will not take too much time for any support.

Some more shots exemplarily, the great F_Red P-51B cockpit, modified as per 1st post and with Jeronimo's mesh edits.

Wonderful. The last upload also changed the P-51C and P-51D-20(K-14) pits. ;)

Hi Thorsten, can you get Feddy's Pit to work in the P-51D-30?

I assume these work only with the D-20(K-14) ones.

You could try to copy and paste the files but I assume it is a nogo.

I use these personally for later versions:

standalone mod, last reply, fully revamped by Jero and me
https://www.sas1946.com/main/index.php/topic,42948.msg484752.html#new

Sorry, but I will not bother Jero for yet another offspring work. ;)

BTW:

No, copying and pasting files into another non Freddy pit will not work.
What you can do is take the late P-51D cockpit name, put it on the D-20(K-14) pit folder---done. ;)

Another tip:
If you use the other P-51Ds from the link above as well, and this for the D-20(K-14), deactivate the Freddy pits N9 version!

Then you have both.
