Template Mission: F4U-1 "Birdcage"============================
Hi all,
This mission is designed as a template for players to take away and create their own missions and campaigns. As it stands, it's a nice standalone single mission, or it can serve as the first mission of a campaign. But the main point is that players can modify the mission to their
own taste and style with a minimum of effort. Copy and paste or add new objects; change the routes; add or subtract aircraft, targets or objectives - whatever you like to make your own missions just the way you like 'em - all the 'bones' are here for you to put the 'meat' on...
"Pilot Notes" are included in the briefing, which is itself also designed to use as a template, and the mission is also designed to familiarize the player with the Birdcage Corsair, whether the player is new to the aircraft or returning to the Birdcage from another aircraft. As with the mission itself, the Pilot Notes can be used as they are, but are also intended for modification to suit the player.
Also included are single mission folder structure, briefing template, historical notes, paintschemes by
R0NNC0 (Corsair) and
vpMedia (static C47), 'starter' objectives and routes for your own missions, and populated Henderson Field.
The idea for a 'Template Mission' came about at
this thread, and we hope it will encourage the community to post their own template missions and pilot notes for their favorite aircraft.
Mission created in version 4.12.2m / SAS Modact 5.3 / SAS Engine Mod 2.7 - Get the Birdcage Corsair here.Download F4U-1 Birdcage Template Mission here.Bonus No. 1==========
If your install doesn't already include a static "Birdcage", download mine
here. Install in your
#SAS or other mods folder. Readme included.
Bonus No. 2==========
I'm not fond of the new airdrome barrels in 4.12, so I've brought back the old ones as add-on objects, download 'em
here. These barrels won't affect your stock 4.12 barrels. Install in your
#SAS or other mods folder. Readme included.
Bonus No. 3==========
Add-on groundcrew, modified for the static Corsair. You don't need to download anything for these guys because they use your stock 3d models, just copy and paste the lines below to your static.ini:

All the bonus objects are built into the template mission, but they
are optional, and if you don't want 'em, just leave them out.
I've test flown the mission for a week, so it should work as advertised (including the pilot notes). Any errors or problems, please let me know and I'll do my best to sort them out. Tell us if you like the idea and find it useful...
All the best,
KB
