it's advised, but not a requirement.
my headset recently conked out, and i've been going online without it.
it's not a major thing, but your experience will be much better with one, for those all-important comms.
for example, i crashed my plane while trying to type a message, lol

Lol, My mic recently broke (One of those cheap things stuck on a headset XD) So I have been playing War Thunder typing, so I am quite interested in joining you guys, what patch and mods would I need (I am currently at 4.12 and have only really played Il-2 online 2-4 times in the past)
