For a damaged Stalingrad you can also use the Destruction Brush in FMB.
It let you select which part to be destroyed.

Besides this utility in my object list in DBW 1.71 I already have a lot of destroyed/damaged objects to choose from.
And the destroyed houseblock with debris in and around the block created by Canonuk  (part of the Channel map) might be useful too for this map.

Hmm, your destruction level isn´t so dark like default, do you use some mod for it? Can you do some comparison between turn-off all mods and these?

Thats my Stock building repaint pack, I redid all these eastern front buildings and their damages too, its part of UP3/DBW/HSFX (you cant turn them off, theyre in the sfs files). At that time for example the main village house youre using was featured even on the Sands of time map, hence the generic textures.

@vpmedia:
I already thought it had to do with your damage repaints.

@cyberolas:
When I turn of all mods your map won't show up of course.
But seriously, I tried disabling all mods except the Mapmods folder but game got stuck at 95%.
So therefor as a test I tried out default IL2 (V 4.11.1) and Helsinki looks like this:

Yes indeed, Uufflakke makes a great suggestion using that Destruction Brush in FMB if anyone wants to experiment on their maps.

Vpmedia excellent retextures and skins are much better than the original game skins, in which most damaged objects are merely painted
in ALL Black color.
 VPmedia has done some outstanding new skins for many of the old objects over the past years.
If some people do not have these new retextures yet, they should look into his website and download his retextured objects and make their
games much more realistic.
This is for the new members who do  not know about this yet - http://www.vpmedia.eu/il2/    I highly recommend it.
Many of these are not new objects in which you have to add new static.ini lines, but it just overwrites the old skins with much better ones.
You will be impressed at the nice details and beauty of this game when you start using them.

I dusted off a Stalingrad single mission I had in my old install and after adjusting some waypoints and adding some extra objects it is suitable for this map.

https://www.mediafire.com/view/82fm365o532gjqg/Stalingrad_SummerGroundAttack.mis

As I like ground attacks there is a lot of going on there. Trains, tanks, ships, artillery etc.
Do whatever you like to do with it. Add stuff, delete stuff. I don't mind.
It is not a perfect mission or a historical mission but I don't expect major issues or anything. It gives you something to play with.
Drop the downloaded mission in Missions/Single/NN/

I have Gurner's Effects Mod installed and with its longer sustaining smoke columns it gives the sieged city some extra dramatic effect.

There was also a discussion going on in the WIP thread about what was happening on on the Volga river.

It seems to be transportion of oil cisterns.

True or not, seems plausible to me, I added them too.
Gives some extra Boom! Boom!

OK, please don't fuss at me for my ignorance here, but also, please remember that I am seventy-one yrs old and not too smart.  I downloaded, ended up with two files, _Tex and Stgrad.  I put the _Tex in the SAS/Mapmods/Maps/_Tex folder.  Copied the Stgrad into SAS/Mapmods/Maps folder.  It asked me if I wanted to overwrite and I said yes(?).  There was some sort of clouds thing that completely overwhelmed me.  But - this excellent map doesn't show up in QMB, and I even went to FMB (although I don't use it, never understood it or how) and even though it is listed as a map, I get a load error when trying to pull it up.  Summer stgrad seems to load up just fine.  What have I done wrong?  Or what did I not do (most likely)?  Any help for the old guy will be much appreciated.  Thank you for listening.
