3D Modeling tanks
« on: March 10, 2014, 10:52:31 AM »

Hi,
I don't know if we can add in the game models made with SolidWorks. Because I train to model tanks on this software.
I already made some nice things like this (largely inspired by the AMX M4 1945).
Please tell me if these models are compatible, so if it is ask me for some models. I just want to said that I've not that much time and that I can't do any mods or skins or things like that (because I don't know how to), I just make the 3D model. You can also tell me if you want the parts are movable, like tracks, turret, gun, wheels....

Not directly compatible i'm afraid, no - If you could find way of importing .iges into 3ds max or GMax you might be in with a chance though.

If it is in *.iges format then these files may be importable into 3ds max.

Put up one of your sample files and I will take a look.

Solidworks saves parts as .SLDPRT, but you can export as an .iges.

If you don't succeed in importing this object, look for some you can import. Some land objects have been imported from other games already. wcat has imported some trains, tanks, and carriages from a compatible game. Good luck with your modding efforts.

Sorry, this format is not suitable for import.

*.obj would be the best if you can, as it is importable into most IL2 compatible 3d programes. Failing that give me a list of the options and I will check them out against 3ds max.
