Oeffag D.III series 153/253

Well Archie had another suggestion :D and I could not resist ;)..so here are the Oeffag DIII, the improved Austrian versions of the Albatros fighters and the backbone of the Austrian Fliks. Enjoy! :)

Built under license, the Austrian Oeffag DIII  was far superior to the German Albatros DIII, DV and DVa;
more powerful, faster; better climbing rates and without the common German lower wing failure (it was much reinforced)! The DIII Oeffag was produced in large numbers and was the "number one" fighter of the Austro-Hungarian "Flik's", then of the Polish Airforce.
Beginning with aircraft 112 of the series 153 production run, Oeffag introduced a new rounded nose that eliminated the spinner. Remarkably, German wind-tunnel tests showed that the simple rounded nose improved propeller efficiency and raised the top speed by 14 km/h (9 mph).
All Oeffag variants were armed with two 8 mm Schwarzlose machine guns. In most aircraft, the guns were buried in the fuselage, where they were inaccessible to the pilot. In service, the Schwarzlose proved to be somewhat less reliable than the 7.92 mm LMG 08/15, mainly due to problems with the synchronization gear. The Schwarzlose also had a poorer rate of fire. At the request of pilots, the guns were relocated to the upper fuselage decking late in the series 253 production run.
The Oeffag aircraft were built in three main versions (series 53.2, 153, 253) using the 185, 200, or 225 hp Austro-Daimler engines respectively. The Austro-Daimlers provided improved performance over the
Mercedes D.IIIa engine. For cold weather operations, Oeffag aircraft featured a winter cowling which fully enclosed the cylinder heads. This cover was generally discarded on the 253 series aircraft.

Archie is correcting the template and skins he made - there was a small problem last night :( with the cowling of the series 153 - but this has been solved  :). So he just edited one corrected skin to serve as a defaut texture so we can upload and he went to sleep (at least i suppose so....  :P) Expect him to upload the template and other skins for later this afternoon/evening :)
