It depends on what you call bold, when you know your aircraft limits like that pilot you can bet he's not being bold, he's just like parking his car in a tight place because he knows perfectly what he can and can't do  :).

Anyway, for me that looks like effective optimization. Get back sooner to pick next parachuters earlier and carry more people up in a day.
Exactly Birdman, isn't any more than that.

It looks a really nice place to fly Boomer!! Where is it?

Nice!! I've a similar video catched last week where I fly, I've to upload. They use same Hungarian turboprop Do-28 mod  :D. So you can realize although impressive it's less dangerous that it appears at first look.

Glad to see D-AQUI Ju-52, I saw her last June at Duxford, I always remember when I saw her flying here in Spain about 1992 as a tribute (she was made here in Seville  :) ).

What surprises me,is how fast he descends from what... ? 10,000 feet
having a chance to shock cool the engine with such a quick decent
Although he must have obviously had some power on, so as to not shock cool the engine

IIRC you dont have to worry about shock cooling in turboprops. in idle there are still some impressive fireworks going on in that turbine. to descend, small pitch is selected (i.e. 100% in il2 ;) ) and the propeller will do the rest, just like engine breaking in a car. might be even funnier to try reverse pitch, although  you might only try it once :D

I know one female pilot beeing a co pilot on a intercontinental flight in a international firm. She said in one and a half year she had landed her plane twice. She tryes to get a job back home in a company called Wideroe . They get smaller Fokker planes for short distance and small airports. A lot of takeoffs and landings. Thatis where the fun is she says

Lets see... Which plane in IL-2 represents this the most... Bf-110? Me-410?

Lets see if this landing is actually dangerous or not..

Gentleman, let the landing challenge begin!  ;)

C-47 for the mission role, but performance-wise you could make an argument for A-20.

But it has to be small enough to match the size of the DO-28

You've no comparable aircraft in Il-2. That Do-28 turbines are 1800HP, dropped to 600HP each, and empty it's like a light fighter. Nothing close enough in Il-2. May be an empty A-20, but even that has nothing to do, and operation speeds are quite different, Do-28 can operate in eventual landstrips at very low speeds. Also you've to make the experiment with a skilful pilot like the vid one  ;). No way.

The Tupolev Tu-2S might actually bear a resemblance to that description.

If you haven't ever flown it, you should. It is an amazing machine and can out-turn Bf-109 G-2, climbs and accelerates very well, and is extremely durable in most situations; see example here

Basically the damage model is dubious and flight model is probably rather optimistic, but it makes it a fun plane to troll fighter pilots... they tend to engage me in turning fights, and the Tu-2S can easily out-turn most fighters in the game.
