Peter the Great in Antwerp
« on: November 22, 2012, 10:30:47 AM »

This is for our Russian members especially. A while ago I was walking around the city and came upon this statue that I had never seen before. It was most likely recently placed. It is in commemoration of Czar Peter the Great's visit to Antwerp in 1717 and is placed more or less at the place where he disembarked from the quays.

Ah yes, here in the Netherlands we also have two statues of Czar Peter the Great.
One in Rotterdam and one in Zaandam (close to Amsterdam)

Levi Jeans made some weird looking pants back in 1717.
They must have been 1/2 the price.
Because you only get pants down to the Knees!  :D
Only those who pay full price get the complete pants to wear.

Very cool. I always like statues. Very good art.
I also like Peter the Great hair style.
He must have listened to the Rolling Stones also in those days.
What a cool Czar ! That is why he is called the Great.

His house however, in Zaandam, which is now a museum, is slightly dissappointing.

Still nonetheless, he learned a great deal over here and took alot of that back to Russia.
Which is cool. :)
