Now that the pic showing an F.4 with folded wings is a danish F.4 (Nr. 461 danish air force in aalborg museum) I asked my wife to scan sources about what's the reason behind.
It turns out to be just some engineering trick for storage of the aircraft in the museum. Apparently they just took out the bolts which are inside the wing structure at that point anyway and put a shaft in the upper bolt positions which enabled them to manually raise the wingtips. It looks like a wingfold mechanism but in fact it isn't.

The fuselage is the same. The wings and engines, are quite different.
