The two seaters pack would not really have been complete without this "three seaters" (though it often flew in Spain with a crew of 5) but single englined plane: The Vultee V-1 makeshift bomber.
2 versions are included in this mod - the original transport hastily equpped with bomb racks, used both by the republicans and nationalists, then the Republican "bomber" after more complex transformations made in 1937, and the modified armed transport/occasional bomber used by the Nationalists
Of the 19 Vultee V-1s bought by the Spanish Republicans, only 12 managed to reach Spain, and were used by both sides as light bombers, couriers, and reconnaissance aircraft. 8 went into Republican service, the other 4 fell into Nationalist hands when they intercepted the intercepting the Republican vessel Mar Cantabrico on its way to Spain. They were used as makeshift fast bombers. In 1937, 5 Republican aircraft underwent huge modifications, including provision was for a protected dorsal gunner position, two machine guns in each wing and internal racks for eight 25kg bombs or four 50kg bombs. Together with the Delfin and Gamma, they were in fact the first aircraft to develop the concept of intruders attack planes. The modifications made on Nationalist aircraft in order to use them as bombers were less extensive. This aircraft had electrically an operated retracting landing gear, fully covered in flight, flaps and of was powered by a Wright-Cyclone engine similar as the one used by the Delfin and some high performance I-16 in Spain.
