jdo3,

You should check out the A2A Accusim P51D FOR FSX, which is currently in beta test. If you're looking for a plane that flies with realistic systems modelled, this is the one for you. It's not combat but you learn how to fly and manage a complex high powered piston aircraft. I have their Spitfire Mk I/IIa and the P47 D Razorback. They are very immersive and fun to fly. The P47 especially is a challenge due to Pilot work load.

Yes and it should be, I read and seen many interviews about flying a P-47. Its pure weight and powerful engine gives it a real challange on takeoffs and landings. One oldtimer in Warbirds interviewed in the magazine Warbird flying countless ours for display in Airshows around the states, the P-51, P-47 and the P-40 .
I cant remember what models of the P-40 tho but he had flown two types.
He said and I quote, If I was to choose witch plane I would fly among these brands I take the P-40 anytime. He said it responded very nice, you can do what ever you want with it and there are very few penaltyes as consequense.
Remember this is for flying without any though of a armed oponent waiting for you

CWMV,

The P40 is next on my to buy list. As to FSX, do you mean that you can't find a link to buy it on-line?

I really enjoy the A2A Spitfire and flying it around the globe in the FSX world, however one that that always irks me about FSX is the piss poor damage model.  Frankly there is none, whether failure occurs in the air on into the ground.

This is likely one benefit to the DCS version as it will have "realistic" damage modeled from all aspects from combat to crash.

Just kicking this along a bit. There's obviously some talented modders here. Should some of you be considering developing aircraft for Dcs world?

The 1946 engine is being pushed to it's limits. CloD is a farce. Is Dcs world the future?

Taking cover now!
