Nice find. I was just thinking if you tint the sky a bit orange-ish it could read Kittyhawk found on mars.

If you look closly, you will realize that P-40 didn't land on rocks 70 years agoif so there would be alot more damage.

Well, these rocks arent really high (for the planes size), and it was a belly landing so it is quite possible.

Makes me wonder if it wasn't burried in shifting sands for a while... surely if anyone knew it was there they would have tried to pull it apart it for the guns and aluminum....

It probably was far from caravan routes. It's a great fossil! Looks like pilot had just run away, but if he was far from routes...

the only corrosion damage it would have taken is the paint being stripped by endless dust storms, it wouldn't rust!

I won't believe it till we know exactly where this picture comes from who took it and when.
If I had found such a treasure I think I would have taken some more shots from it ...

Until then I keep on dreaming it's true and really hope the pilot could saved himself.

The amount of rocks on the place and the light damage sustained by this aircraft makes me wonder...

Nobody here to translate ... ?

Ok, I try to translate it.  ;)

"My friend works in the company looking for oil and gas on Sahara. However recently they found something completely other…"

"The plane lay so much years troubled  by nobody. The Finders informed RAF about the wreck and they probably identified this plane, but nobody knows why it was in this concrete place. Perhaps for the some time the riddle will be solved."

"Just quite good toy."

"I think it is Curtiss P-40 "Kittyhawk"/or "the Tomahawk"/ - whose were equipmented units of RAF in West Africa in 1943."

"What a pitty there is no side photo - we could try to decode the unit."

"When we would hammer out, we could make two F-16s and piece of Hercules..."

"Holly shit!! Please more informations and pictures :-)"
