Can anyone land the new Fw-190 ?
« on: February 23, 2012, 09:55:36 AM »

What's with the Fw-190 FM? I love flying it - but how do you get it down ?

at flight idle, full flap and gear down and on a 3 degree flight path for landing the thing still accelerates ?!?  I end up doing numerous 360's on final and still run off the runway.

I admit most of the a/c require too much power on landing in this sim (eg. Spitfire needs about 30% + power on final whan most of what I have read says it lands almost power off)

I'm sure I could learn to land it - but it just seems unrealistic. Is there a way to load an alternate (earlier) FM ?

Do you use elevator trim ? It decreases the approach speed substantially at every crate where it exists.

Hi Tanda! Bleed your height and horizontal speed by slip sliding (with the 190: stick links and right rudder) then before touching all center (full flaps and gear down) to level still flying 176kmh and make a three point landing after having the machine stalled from some half meter height (no more) from ground. Once touched stick forward once again to preveent bumping and unexpected take off, until the tail settles finally down...

Regards,

Gianluca

PS: this in 409 and 4.101 no idea in 4.11 however.....

Do you talk about the 4.11 FM?
As far as I know there is a lot of talking about the landing issue

Living next to original flying versions of both aircraft (Spit Vc and Fw-190), I can tell you I definitely hear power on as they come in to land.  It's only when the aircraft are within about 1-2 meters above the runway that you hear them chop the throttle.

Have you tried using rudder slip on approach?
