Hello Everyone,

I wouldn't have bothered any of you with this because the guideline has been and is very useful, but I'm getting %70 crashes lately that I can't get rid of.

Now in the first page it mentions that the %70 crashes result from a conflict between the .ini files (static.ini, technics.ini or chiefs.ini) and the actual mods in the MODS folder. I use JSGME, which I have to admit although being somewhat tidier than the MODS way of doing it, also makes it harder to install or troubleshoot new mods since everyone talks MODS and not much else.
I'm not complaining... I just think that some would appreciate the thought (i.e. me).

Anyways, the last (and only) mod I've installed that required me to tinker with the above mentioned three .ini files was the [Cruisers]USS Chester,USS Houston,USS Portland by Sani, which I have uninstalled after realizing it was the cause of the problem (again would have been much easier if I hadn't used the JSGME). I am positive that I have deleted all the additions I've made into any .ini file, but unfortunately I neglected making backups of the original files.

My question is; are those three .ini files are the only ones that will cause that problem? Because even though I have uninstalled the mod (and reverted the prior changes) it still gives me the %70 CTD.

And if it's possible, would any of you care to supply me with the stock UP2.01 .ini files?

Thanks in advance
Looking forward to your response.

make sure that you have clean out completely the ini files and for the next time remember that when you set up a new mod first back up the modified files so that you can easily revert to previous configuration. The second advice would be not to use the JSGME for individual mods (unless you are an advanced modder), always place them in the MODS folder and they will still work.

Thanks Frankiek.

I wouldn't call myself an advanced modder, not for IL2 anyway, but I know my way around basic folder and file manipulation. I have more than half a dozen mods I've modified to work with JSGME, but I have to be honest I wasn't sure if the two (JSGME & MODS) would work together...

... Actually came to think of it... why wouldn't they?

I have changed those three .ini files with the unmodified ones (found under MODS) just to be sure, and I've took notice of the modification dates; all of them were the same (I've switched them before, wasn't sure if they were clean, they were).

That brings me to my initial question again; are those three (static, technics and chief) the only files responsible for %70 crash problem?

Okay, I've started using the two together (JSGME & MODS) and now it works.

Not quite sure what the problem was, but here you go. I've fixed it somehow... boy am I good  8)

Thanks for the suggestions  :)

Yes I have, but it wasn't very useful. In fact there was no sign of an error at all... which is curios because there used to be error messages all the time that I have come to expect.

You have written that buttons should be only in one place
… \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Files\GUI\GAME\buttons
or
… \IL-2 Sturmovik 1946\Mods\STD\GUI\GAME\buttons
But in which of these places? Or in it there is no difference

The first one is for UP (I think), and the second one is for SAS Modact =D
If you have SAS Modact, then it's in the MODS/STD/Gui/game folder =D

no lol. The SFS files are basically the game itself, an enormous amount! The thing to do, if you think you lost one, is to make a list here of all the SFS files in your main game directory, and put the list here, along with your game version info (4.09/4.10/4.101 ect) and what modact you have. Then we can see which one it is, and send that one if possible.
