Thanks for the reply Epervier. I'd like to clear up a couple of things. Please bear with me as I am not terribly computer savvy. You say "It is not enough to have the same name. You also have to be the same size for mother-Class !" I checked the size of each of the 7 files listed, both those in the download and those in my current Ship_JFC_Classes folder and each are the same. 4209F9C47E34B326 (2 KB) 2F453DC2440CDD8A (2 KB) B41ABA9E1D37450E  (2 KB) D0E820D8C8F83662 (2 KB) 9D6C94F4482C31D6 (1 KB) EC1145FCED6ADC34 (1 KB) BC2508487F558066 (2 KB). So the mother class not only has the same name (I'm assuming the name is the letter/number combination) but the size matches, as do the sizes and names of all of the other six files. I also checked the Ship_JFC_Claases folder in my game for the BB61Iowa and found these were also identical.
Next you mention to, " Check the hier.him you have in the folder (3do\Ships\Yamatov2\).
It must have a total of 1018 lines! With the seaplane it has 1027 lines (the seaplane lines - 1011 to 1019 - are almost at the end)!" When I followed the path Ship_JFC_IJNYamato\3do\Ships\Yamatov2 I don't find a hier.him file that resembles the format found in the No Seaplane folder, but rather a long list of msh mat and tga files among other things. You say that the hier.him file that should be here should have a minimum of 1018 lines (no seaplane) and 1027 with the seaplane. The lines in the Yamato2 folder are not numbered so I did a rough manual count and came up with something around 176. Am I looking in the right place for the hier.him file? And are these msh, mat, and tga files the ones that I need to count?
My next question is, since I can't seem to get the ship to work without the seaplane and catapult, can I safely remove the No Seaplane hier.him file and replace the ship2 without seaplane file with the regular ship2 file, or failing that to safely uninstall everything I have done without breaking the game and start over with a fresh install?
Thanks for your time and patyience.

We're going to work things out!
1 - the same size for a file: we must have to have to the nearest byte! So right-click on the file... properties..... and you will have the actual size in bytes!

2 - I suppose you are using the awful Windows Notepad program! If you want to see and understand a lot of things, it is better to use another text editor.
Personally I use NotePad2 for Windows 64 bits! See here:
http://www.flos-freeware.ch/notepad2.html
and D/L version 4.2.25 (x86 - 32bits) or 4.2.25 (x64 - 64bits) !

This way you will become the king of file tinkering "him"!

Note: the Hier.him file must exist!
But you may not have enabled the viewing of Windows file extensions!
This is very important!
See the specialized sites to activate this function... possibly!

Hi Epervier,

I tried to follow your instructions to get more precise file size but was only partially successful. When I highlighted and right clicked on the first file in my game's Ship_JFC_Classes folder and then clicked the properties tab I got a dialogue box with five tabs, the first of which was labeled General. This gave the file size in both KB (1.42) and bytes (1,463). However, when I did the same thing to the same file in the same folder in the download, I got a dialogue box with only one tab labeled General, and this gave the file size only as 2 KB, compressed to 1 KB. It was not broken down into bytes. There was an index number (9) listed but I have no idea as to its meaning. I'm still looking for the Hier.him file.

People have successfully installed this ship in 4.12.2 SAS Modact v 5.3 and got it working but it still doesn't work for me. I tried fixing things by replacing the hier.him file I had used from the No Seaplane folder to replace the one in the Yamatov2 folder from the download, and then taking out the ship2 for no seaplane file which I had placed in the ships.ini file and replacing it with the ship2 file and then dropping the class files from the Ship_JFC_Classes folder into my existing folder in my game and letting them overwrite (I had not done this before as I thought the files were identical), thus now giving me the yamato with the catapult, whereas before I had used the no seaplane option. I was able to start my game and it loaded with no CTDs and I opened my current mission and placed the ship on the map, taking the place of an existing BB and its WPs. When I clicked into 3D mode I was able to see the ship fine and it did in fact show the catapults. It was also visible when I clicked Show in the Objects box. However, when I ran the mission I had the same old problem.  When I viewed the formation with the Static camera I had placed the Yamato was nowhere to be seen. It had disappeared. I zoomed back and forth and looked around in several 360s but could only see the other ships. No Yamato, even though it was using the same start time as the other ships. The only other thing I can think of to do is to completely uninstall the ship and start over. If that fails I will try another download, and if that doesn't work I'm out of ideas. I think someone else had this problem that they fixed by deleting DH initials from some files but I can't find that anywhere. I need this ship. Can anyone help? Thanks.

The Yamato is a beautiful ship. Painstaking detailed and a joy to look at. Unfortunately it doesn't move. And I also can't get the game to place it on a map as a stationary ship. These are the same problems cgagan had. Maybe if I tried v1? Is there a link to the earlier version?

Do you have the same error as described in post #149?

If not... no LOG... no HELP !

Read how to get the log here, and the instant log here.

When you want to post only the relevant parts from the log
read here how to do this. (code option!)

If you want to post all lines of the logfile we suggest to use https://pastebin.com/
to paste your log and then paste the link here which you got from them.
Read and see here how to do this.

Note: It is preferable to provide the LOG in its entirety!

Did you correctly paste the new gun text entries into ships.ini?  -  ship1.txt in the instructions.
