Great plane again, thanks a lot!

The ground loops and take-off difficulties seem to be caused by incorrect aerodynamic center position that causes wings to move funnily up and down when you change pitch in flight. The center of the 3d model is about 2 m too back and thus a lot of weight is on the tail wheel.

You can test my fix for that by opening the hier.him in Ro37Bis\3do\Plane\Ro37bis and changing the Attaching line for CF_D0 from
Attaching 0 1 0 -1 0 0 0 0 1 0 -0.1 0
to
Attaching 0 1 0 -1 0 0 0 0 1 -2 -0.1 0
This moves the plane 2 m backwards to fix the aerodynamic center position. Then the cockpit is not in correct place anymore, so you'll have to also open the hier.him in Ro37Bis\3do\Cockpit\Ro37bis and change the Attaching line for body from
Attaching 0 1 0.011378 -1.000000 0 0 0 -0.011378 1 1.03 -0.125 -0.20
to
Attaching 0 1 0.011378 -1.000000 0 0 0 -0.011378 1 -0.97 -0.125 -0.20
This moves the cockpit back to original position with respect to the plane. Then you can also remove an unwanted part in your windscreen by commenting or deleting lines

Can I use this mod for 4.9? Tried to put it in UP-02. Did not work.

The Ro 37 was indeed a typical pre-war Italian biplane - very nimble and acrobatic although underpowered....and highly vulnerable, as were the Fiat Cr32.
On the other hand the Italian monoplanes were known for their surdy metallic structure - and heavy weight with badly suited engines - engines engineering was the weakest point of the Italian aeronautical industry at the time. This made planes like the Cant Z501 or the SM79, for instance, nearly impossible to shoot down by 7.7mm gundfire, and even quite imprevious to 12.7mm, as the SCW war records show. Another weak point of Italian aircraft was the weak gear arrangement - take off and landing were highly critical phases - any tentative to strenghthen the design resulted in.... considerable drag.
A las point - quite consequent in Il2 modelling: centre of gravity issues - a plague of some Italian aircraft of the period - due to the fact that fuel tanks were located at various locations in the fuselage and furthermore that there were "evolutions in design" of teh planes that were not always in full accordance with the initial design: one cannot transform for instance a reco biplace bomber into a monopost fighter without moving the COG forward...therefore it was not uncommon to read in operational manuals of the planes instructions like " if less than 115l of fuel remain in your centre fuel tank you are forbidden to use flaps when landing" and such...

A few improvements
First, another batch of wonderful skins by Nashprod are available for download at:

http://narod.ru/disk/35045465001/Ro37bis.7z.html

Nashprod is really a great skinner and works very fast!

Then I thought that the engine can really be better looking and quite colorful as they really were ( there are now a number of original Ro37bis Piaggio engine on display in various museum in - ex Spain or Afganistan) so you can download the modifications with their installation instructions at:

https://www.mediafire.com/?kursrjhhisxxju6
or
http://ifolder.ru/27722680

Note that this archive includes also a hier.him file including Birdman's fix.

Enjoy

Great looking aircraft and addition to the game!  Unfortunately when I try flying it in QMB I get a "data file corrupt" window pop-up for it or any other aircraft regardless of the map I use.  Removed it from the game all works fine again.   Tried a couple of times to reinstalled but got the same results.  Any ideas why?

I admit I waited for this a lot. I was curious to experience how it flies and the results were positive. I did 4 vs 4 dogfight vs I-15s and I can tell that Ro37bis were a tough plane to dogfight with. It could follow the I-15s in most maneuvres and only once I had a sudden spin trying to follow a I-15 to a very tight, slow climbing right turn. Then I took the I-15 and it felt slow and unresponsive by comparison! I should try again with I-15bis and I-16-10.
This addition looks, sounds and flies in a way I can think is nothing less than perfect. The 3D model looks exactly the plane looks in the photos, the plane flies in a way that seems 100% compatible with what is written in the history books. The only thing that bothered me is the cockpit position, that seems to be in a more frontal position that it should have been in reality (check from the in cockpit view the lower wings and then press F2 and you 'll understand.)

Now, I hope that more skins will be available and more loadout options. I 've read about the 180kg of bombs and it's use a single-seat fighter in the SCW with no gunner. And according to the old David Mondey book, 275 planes were still in use by the R.A. when Italy entered the war. So, there's much more than just SCW scenarios with this plane.

If you want to get back the original cockpit position, then just do the cockpit hier.him editing part of my fix I posted earlier. The Dreamk's improved engine files include my fix for plane hier.him, but not the part for cockpit leaving the cockpit 2 m more forwards than originally.

Wow, this is just amazing: three new planes for SCW in a row. Thanks a lot, DreamK. With these reinforcment, Franco's air forces are going to be hard to defeat  :P. This is even more essential than pava. Used in most battles. I was planning to make some skins for Letov S-328 to play as Ro-37, now I'm really glad to haven't started that...this is much better.
It's true this plane was easier to shoot down than others, probably because it was slow too. No republican pilot was able to shoot down a SM-79 along the whole war, but this one was a frequent prey, also because it was used so often for "cadena" ground attacks.
Thanks again.

Epervier we need you!
The 409 version of the aircraft (He-46C1 & C2, Ro-37) is ready with the latest changes.
They work well... but there will be no stationary version because of a problem... hoock I think!
