Updated Stock Nav Light Mod
« on: October 16, 2011, 07:42:50 PM »

Ok, a long while back I created a mod that restored the Stock Nav Lights when the UP fist came out, as the squad I was flying with used Nav Lights to quickly and easily identify other Squad Members in the air.  I made a small update (restructured the file structure) to work with Dark Blue World and the SAS Mod Activator.

They are available from these links:

DBW_Stock_Nav_Lights.zip for use with Dark Blue World

SAS_Stock_Nav_Lights.zip for use with the SAS Mod Activator 3.06

Stock_Nav_Lights.zip for use with older versions of Modded IL-2

You are welcome to use this in any mod pack you build, please give credit as appropriate.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Updated with added screenshot from Dark Blue World.  No green tail light.

A question about offline flying with this mod. Is there a way to have other planes of your flight also turn on their nav lights?

With on-line playing I understand it is up to each player to do it themselves, but off-line there are many situations where nav lights would help identify your own unit planes, especially when you don't fly with icons on.

I honestly don't know.  I would think that the only way to get the nav lights to turn on would be to turn them on for all planes. I don't think you could do it for just friendly aircraft.

Maybe I'm doing something wrong.  I'm using DBW 1.6.
I dl'ed the version for DBW...do I just install with JSGME?  Or do I install in another way?   I still get a green tail-light.

I'm using JSGME for installation.  Thank you.

Unzip the .zip file to your JSGME folder, then activate through JSGME.  That should do it.

Does this mod turn your gun tracers into huge starwars lasers too? Or is it an "unhooked" mod, separated from tracer graphics?

No it doesn't do anything to my tracers.

Plus being semi-new to modding to IL2, I don't know what you mean by "unhooked".  I was just getting use to UP3 RC4, then I found DBW.  It's a little confusing for a flight sim enthusiast like me who has to find time to play.  It seems with DBW some mods go directly into #DBW folder and others, like this mod, you install with JSGME.  For some reason though this mod is not activating through JSGME.

Just to clarify...I just install the folder "stock nav lights" (which contains sub folders "#DBW" , "#DBW 1916" and "files") and put that into my JSGME mod folder and activate?  I don't need to move anything around, correct?

EDIT:  I forgot to mention that I do notice the nav lights both on planes and runway are much brighter, but that's the only change I notice.  It doesn't correct the green tail light issue.  When I figure out how to get the screen shots, I will post them.

The first pic is with your mod activated through JSGME, as you can see, the lights are brighter (quite nice actually, I zoomed out pretty far and I can still see them!)  But I still get the green tail light.  I've tested with multiple planes.

The second pic is un-modded.

"Unhooked" is my/a term for a mod that used to be linked to another mod, but has been separated somehow, by (in this case) making separate textures and .mat files, so it does not interfere anymore with the tracers the navlights shared their textures with.
