##### Kumpel's Matrix Tool v2.0
« on: July 16, 2009, 02:36:16 AM »

UPDATED Dec 2009!

This is a must have tool for modders. Kumpel sent me this updated version himself.

This tool goes hand in hand with editing the hier.him files. So read up about that, and then you will know how to use this. There is a help buttons for closer explanation of the tool's function on the tool itself.

I could write a little guide to this thing, but really, the best thing is to go play with it and see for yourself.

What I can tell you is this:

1) All things in IL2 are not equal.

2) The Rot values (Rotation) work in degrees. So 90 means rotate plus 90 degrees.
you can also enter negative values to rotate the other way. Trick is always to find out which axis is which. Muas told me that all movables in IL2 rotate through the Y axis, so keep that in mind.

3) The scale values work in simple numerics. 1 is 1/1 scale . 2 is twice the size, 3, is 3 times and so on. You can of course use decimals here, like 1.003, 0.09. Whatever you want, just bear in mind that it is good if you enlarge or shrink and object, to do it to all the axis, otherwise you are into the world of warping.

N.B. The reverse calculations are subject to normal limitations of using
atan() function in the 360 deg domain. So sometimes you can get 180 deg
instead of 0 deg. As the result goes straight onto ClipBoard, one can
easily check things by doing forth and back recalculations.

Have fun with this!

S! to Kumpel

1. Need Visual Basic 6.0 runtime library
This Kumpel's Matrix Tool v2.0 needs Visual Basic 6.0 runtime library.
If you haven't installed runtime, get it from somewhere and install.

2. at Windows 64bit, need registry manual adding
At Windows 64bit, MSSTDFMT.DLL (Matrix Tool needs this DLL) is installed at folder C:\Windows\SysWOW64\
There isn't registered , on Windows x64 default.
You have to input this at comamnd prompt window
> regsvr32 C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSSTDFMT.DLL

western, i tried to use above command with command prompt after adding the dll into SysWOW64 folder, and i got this message:

The module 'C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSSTDFMT.DLL' was loaded but the call to DllRegisterServer failed with error code 0x8002801c.

is this okay, or is it a problem?

Is your system 32bit or 64bit?

I checked my install and can see I have     c:\windows\syswow64\msstdfmt.dll present

You have to open the command prompt with administrator privileges.

Westerns instructions are same as I read here: http://superuser.com/questions/519841/getting-msstdfmt-dll-missing-when-starting-visual-basic-6-application

-------------------------------------------------------

From another site:

Quote
This error message happens if you’re not executing the commands under elevated (administrator) command prompt. When you do not run the command prompt in administrator mode, the user account control will prevent you from making changes to the DLL (Dynamic Link Library) files even though your account is listed under administrator group. You will not have permission on library in registry. I would suggest you to execute register dll files under elevated command prompt.

Method 1: To run elevated command prompt

a.    Click on Start; Click on All Programs.

b.    Click on Accessories.

c.    Right click on Command Prompt and run as administrator.

d.    Now try registering the dll file and you should be able to do it.

My god.... I tinker with the hier.him every now and again, and I think that I love this tool. I just DLed it for use on a long abandoned personal project and I'll have to say... I've been working way too hard.

"42" is NOT the answer to Life, The Universe, OR Everything...

Kumpel's Matrix Tool is!

So many thanks for this!

Respectfully

When You enter angles and scale parameters separate with coma (dot caused program crash)
Like that   Scale X  1,25    if you enter 1.25 Program crash and You must restart it again.

Kumpel's Matrix tool unfortunately isn't locale independent, so you have to figure out what works and what doesn't on your PC in terms of digit separator.
In my case for instance, the output when I click "Calculate Angles" uses dots as separators, but I have to change them to comma when I want to convert back to matrix.
Not that the program would crash otherwise, but it will just give a wrong matrix back.

Best regards - Mike

Absolutely same action I do.
